Title: Nowra shed day Sept 11, 12, & 13.
Post by: Troyskie on July 04, 2020, 02:27:36 AM
As I can't go anywhere due to busy work, how about a shed day?

Beds are limited/sort of none as the family will be here, one double in the spare room (I think Johno + 1 already has dibs) and a double in the shed (I'll reserve that for Noel if Victoria come out of lockdown). Three lounges for smurfs. Plenty of floor space inside. Plenty of camping room.

First in best dressed.

Dyno run anyone?

Hi Troskie
I'm in.
One inside floor space please.
Own bedding and matres supplied.

By chance, would you have a tig welder available?
If so, maybe Pete could weave (weld) some magic for me.

Gavin

Mmmm, at this stage I have no leave left as we had to use it during our Qld company work from home plan  :unknown:,   But will see what can be arranged, love the trip to Nowra ( plus I really do need to get the '93 dynoed)

Fantastic Gav! Yep, I can bring one home. I have a few options, do you want to do any ally welding or just steel? I've a CMT MIG we could use at work (3phase, can't use at home) which reduces distortion massively.

Ray, you did the right thing by them, hopefully they'll come to the party (but not the shed day  :sarcastic:).

Thank you Troy.

Steel only. I have fabricated two simple rear blinker bracket reinforcing pieces.

Sick to death of them breaking under the stress of the Top Box.

Gavin.

Troy, I'll be there. Camp next to the chooks as usual. Not confirmed yet but Greg, Steve and Alf will probably be there as well.
Pete Ambo may also be a starter, will let you know ASAP. Will also let you know about beer requirements.
   Regards, Pete.  :drinks:

I'm in, wouldn't miss it for the world!

Maaaate, you know I love youse all and it's the company I come for, but.... those slow cooked legs of lamb and rhubarb crumble alone are worth every mile of a 2000 km round trip, take the shed as booked!

This year I plan on not being run off the road by an oncoming vehicle on the way home. It has also been suggested that tackling a road billed as "Australia's most dangerous road" riding alone was not very smart.https://youtu.be/cEeFLZrh_WM (https://youtu.be/cEeFLZrh_WM)  (http://)

Although bitterly cold at the time, the effort of trying to right my bike and get it back on the road saw me stripped down to my T-shirt and I left my heated vest controller on the side of the road, I replaced it but I'm sorely tempted to try my luck and see if it's still there a year later.

Great stuff Troy, the Nowra and Bermi manshed weekends are the highlight of my motorcycling calendar.

I can feel the tranquillity already......

Righto Gav, no problemo.

Pete, you and the chooks are booked  :drinks:. Give me the beer order and we'll be sorted.

Noel, shed is confirmed  :good2:. Lambs are now being fattened and the rhubarb is growing well in the renovated veggie patch. You've re-learn't a valuable lesson for the trip, so as long as the borders are open (let's just assume NSW doesn't lose it next), kookaloo!

Richard, we'll be ready in November. We could be a possible pit stop on the way to Bermie.

G'day Troy

I'm a maybe for the movie room  :good:

I could bring an outlet down to temp hook up for the 3 phase  :wacko2:
But that'll only work if you've got 3 live phases at your house.

Cheers
Alan

I was planning on this but Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has said no. (We can attend but getting back into QLD will be damn expensive)   :diablo: :diablo:

Also Ray, you must remember that if you need hospital care in NSW , you'll have to travel back to Qld!
Just saying that Prem AP says Qld hospitals are only for Queenslanders and no one else can treat them  :good:

Cheers

Bugger Al. We'll do a pie run then :good2:.

Ray, we've still got the Bermie shed day later in the year. I think Prem AP might have watched that movie 28 Days Later and taken some inspiration  :sarcastic:.

It would be sadder if there was political tit for tat if the situation reverses  .

Shed day update.

Anyone after a dyno run? I've not spoken with Simon, but we'd need a few and I don't need to.

Plan for Friday,  :drinks:.

Plan for Saturday: Bacon and eggs. Run to Robertson Pie shop the long way. Return same. Then  :drinks: :drinks: :drinks: :drinks: :drinks:. Only then do we break out the tools. After more  :drinks: :drinks: :drinks: :drinks: it is time for Gav's welding to commence. Dinner and  :drinks: :drinks: :drinks: :drinks: :drinks:. The pure FJ gold.

Sunday,  :dash2: :dash2: :wacko2: :bad:. Everyone surprises Troyskie by cleaning up while he sleeps in. Bacon and eggs. Everyone leaves. Troyskie's family is ungagged, unchained, given water and food, then restrained again. Troyskie goes back to the shed.....

Hi Troyskie
I will volunteer for another dyno run. Would be interesting to see if the timing advance and Hi Octane fuel makes a difference.
Brackets ready to weld, just requires a little paint removal.
Planning on leaving home 06:00 Friday.
Will be a lonely 2 hour run without Alan.

Does anyone want to check their "SAG". If so, I will bring my Slacker.

Gavin

Well Troy, I guess letting you know now that I won't be there is only a formality under the circumstances, I can't leave Melbourne, let alone cross the border.

Have fun guys.

Only kidding mate. Just heard Prem DA extending lock-down and slowing down the re-opening.

A huge bummer mate, but I must say I agree with it. It is costing me three salaries to have people 'working from home'in VIC, but I'm happy to pay and support a sensible way out. I'm not making use of job keeper etc. as construction in VIC has continued, albeit differently.

But mate, there is light at the end of the lock-down! Bermie is just around the corner, and as long as we don't get another hotel quarantine style fuck-up you should be good for Bermie  :good2:.

Wash your bikes chaps!

Al can't make it but might meet us at the pie shop. We'll meet in the town pie shop (opposite the park), not the 'Pie Shop' regular. Al has arranged a guy from 'Old Bike Magazine' coming as they're doing an article on FJs.

Diesel is asked does anyone need any parts he can fit on the bike? He has heaps of spares and is cleaning out.

Looks like a sponge and chamois are in order to go with the fine pale ale I am bringing.

Troy, could I borrow a bucket and some detergent?

A great big thank you to Troy and Nicole for hosting another fantastic FJ shed weekend. I'm sure everyone who attended also had a great time.
The food, the ride and the beer were just part of the good things that make the weekend very memorable. The company, the stories and stirring
all contribute to the great feeling you get when attending one of these weekends.
Thanks also to those who made the effort to get there. Looking forward to the next one already. Details for the Bermagui weekend will be posted soon.
   Regards, Pete.  :good2: :drinks:
