Title: Dainese Leathers
Post by: FJ Flyer on May 06, 2010, 04:10:39 PM
Okay, my wife's friend's husband gave me a set of two piece, zip together Dainese leathers.  Black, blue, and white, which kind of matches my FJR.  They're not full on race leathers, no hump or knee pucks, just pads on the knees.

Anyway, I tried them on and they actually fit pretty well.  The only thing that concerned me is that the jacket zipper is on the wrong side.  My first thought was that they are chick leathers.  But some guys at work that ride said a lot of UK and Euro gear manufacturers had the zipper on the wrong side as standard practice.

Anyone have experience with Dainese stuff?   :unknown:

These are pretty nice, only slightly used, and probably cost some good bit of cash when new.

Back in 1990 I crashed at Mid Ohio wearing Dianese leathers. I was traveling at well over 100mph and slid for 100ft or so before tumbling through the grass. Not a scratch, burst seam or damaged zipper. as long as the leather is in good condition they should be a great suit.

IIRC, my Motoport jacket is that way, too.

Hey Chris, the zipper is just like driving on the road .... we don't think you're a bunch of girlies just because you drive on the wrong side of the road.

Ned

ps My Fieldsheer zip is one side my Czechoslovakian or whatever made leather jacket zips the other. It's only confusing early in the morning when I haven't had a coffee. I still know I'm a bloke.

Crash tested a set of Dainese 2 piece leathers a LONG time ago at Pueblo Motorsports Park, CO.  About a 70 mph high side - all seams and zippers good - back protector wore through the leather in a couple small places.  I'd highly recommend them.

Chris,
I have 2 Dainese jackets (Zen and Daytona) that will both zip to a pair of Dainese pants (can't remember the name right now, Delta?).  Great quality, love all the pieces and that leather smell is intoxicating!

My only complaint is the cuff of the sleeves is a little tight when zipped up.  That's good for getting gloves over, but when I put the liner in it gets a little too tight.  Of course, down here I don't need the liner very often.

They should serve you well, besides, the price seems right.
