Title: praise for garmin
Post by: mst3kguy on May 06, 2010, 07:29:27 AM
my zumo stopped working a couple weeks ago.  i tried everything, including using contact cleaner on the unit, rebooting, and other suggestions i'd seen from similar problems posted on the zumo forums.  to make matters worse, it was over a weekend.  i've heard calling garmin on a monday is a bitch.

i went to their website and posted my problem that way.  their customer service contacted me within 12 hours via email and started the process to get it fixed.  they gave me the address of where to mail it, and i advised i needed it for a trip in three weeks, they said if i sent it in with payment, it "should" be back by then.  hah, yeah.  got it back in probably 10 days.  it's either a new or refurb'ed unit, all i know is, it's not the one i sent them.

was it the 150.00 deal?   I was just talking to Jefman and he just went thru the same process.... said he was sure they had sent him a brand new unit.

One of the reasons i went with garmin was their customer service history.

glad they got you taken care of.

frank,

yep, send the unit itself to one address, send a check for $150 to another address (same location, different po box or something like that), and i got a replacement in a week.  they didn't indicate that, they just said send $150 and the unit and they would fix the problem.  wow, yes they did.
