Title: do you remove mounting tabs if you remove the reflectors
Post by: mtc on April 26, 2020, 04:33:34 PM
one of mine is busted off the other is on

many remove the reflectors, but the tab welded to the frame looks just as lame

or do you touch it up with black paint?

your thought?

I would remove them!  Use a dab of paint to prevent rust.   And then a couple years later think - I could really use those tabs to mount this new thingy ...  :sarcastic:

Dremel is your friend.
Those ugly welds can be smoothed over with JB Weld epoxy putty (harder to sand but much more durable than Bondo)

A spritz of paint and you're in business....

I'm old school, I love the clean smooth lines of molded frames....

show bike,

my bike while not ratty, is no queen, glad my thinking of shaving it off, does no harm the already nonexistant "resale" value, noting can make it go up and not too much can make it go down

thanks...but i don't own a dremel, maybe a broken hack saw blade, or just fatigue the tab off, i think that is what happened to the other side

No Dremal? Just use a burr bit in a drill, then file and or sand smooth, paint to suite your taste.

Here is a picture of Jim Smothers (RIP) with his 1973 Kawasaki Z1.

He had every weld on that frame smoothed and it was beautiful.

Killed the value of the bike to certain collectors, but he was happy and that's all that mattered.
