Does anyone here live near Irvine (Cal)?

Noel, here in SoCal we think of vehicle travel in terms of minutes. So when you ask about near, what did you have in mind?

Here in Utah, we measure vehicle travel in terms of hours. :pardon:

I'm pretty sure all of us in Cali live close enough.
Will you need an FJ for your visit?

No, but he'll need a thesaurus.

There are a few that live within an hours drive or so. I lived in Irvine during the early 90's and worked on the now closed down Marine Corps base at Tustin. The big hangers are still there.

To the one's that twigged the reason for my enquiry and subsequently alluded to possible meet ups and even a bike to ride, thank you! I'll regroup and have another crack at it in the near future.
Yes, it was my plan to be in Irvine Mon-Fri last week but circumstances changed at the very last minute. Much and all as I love you guys, the real crime is my wife is currently swanning around Hawaii for two weeks without me.
Noel
Hawaii without you? I don't know how she managed that but I am sure she is having a perfectly wonderful time.
Hmmmmm
Irvine or Hawaii, such a tough choice....

Used to do maintenance on Hangar door like that, even had to replace the entire electro rail system overhead at one stage, filthy job. Pickup arms always playing up and doors not operating

Haha, thanks Alan, thoroughly enjoyed the clip, what a great movie.
As for being home alone, my daughter took her mother's instructions to make sure I ate properly, didn't drink too much and so on too seriously. She's taken it on board as a challenge. I kid you not, she pointed out how many wine bottles were in the bin the other day, demanded to know what my vegetable intake had been for the previous few days, criticises my lunch for it's lack of nutritional value, comes out at night and tells me it's time I went to bed (her mother does none of this, she's gave up trying years ago)
I'm thinking of running away from home. Seriously, I'm a lucky man, I'm grateful she takes an interest in her father.

Haha, I could have just gone straight to Hawaii.
What happens in Irvine anyway? There's not much on the net about it. It appears to have no claim to fame.
