Gave Sparkles some loving today with some new tires (Bridgestone T31 170x60x17 rear and S21 120x70x17 front). When i removed the wheels I notices that the bearings were not in the best of condition (not rolling freely), so got some new ones installed too. Thought that while the wheels were off, that I may as well install the silver spot calipers that i purchased a few months ago.
I got everything mounted up with no issues, bled the new front brakes, wheeled the bike outside and gave her a bath. Even just moving the bike around the yard I can tell the new brakes have made a massive improvement over the OEM FJ brakes. and they look much better thsn my red painted ones too.
Ready to do some riding next week with Pete (Oldktmdude) and some mates next weekend now.
Good work Mark, those calipers are a big up grade compared to the original FJ units and look way better than red too.
I've just fitted a new pair of tyres as well, Metzeler Sportec M7RR. Best tyres I've had yet, may not last too long but brilliant so far.
We plan to arrive sometime next Friday arvo. We're booked into to the Crown for 2 nights at this stage and may extend depending on
our (your) scenic tour program.
I'll call you as the arrival time gets closer.
Regards, Pete. :good2:

Are you planning on heading any further north this trip. Diesel Dave is up at the Mapleton muster this weekend. He was hoping to catch up with
you too.
Have you much up in the hills around Murwillumbah?
Always interesting reading the riding comments from Down Under while our riding season is winding down. Sparkles looks great! GSXR rear wheel? What year is Sparkles?
Joe
She's a beauty Mark :good2:
I don't know what pads you have, just be careful with organic pads with your rotors. Keep an eye on them.
With my wave rotors, Galfer was specific about running a semi or full sintered pad. It seems that the sharp edges of the wave style rotors do not play well with the softer organic pads.
Did you change pad compound? If so, be sure to Scotch Brite the old transfer layer off your rotors.
Cheers laddie!

We are planning to head north for a few days after Grafton, maybe finish up around Boonah. We'll do a few rides in that general area but avoid heading east from there.
We will probably catch up with Diesel Dave some time on Sunday. We'll organise a meeting time and location closer to the time.
Haven't done any riding around Murwillumbah but we will if we find some good roads, open to suggestions.
Can't wait to get going, haven't had a long ride on the FJ for ages.
Regards, Pete. :drinks:

Been told the road between Kyogle and Murwillumbah through Uki, is superb.
But, I'll have to wait til next May on the way to Toowoomba to give it a whirl.
Enjoy and have a safe one.
What day are you passing outer Sydney?

G'day Al, we're leaving home on Thursday. Going via Oberon, Bell Line of Roads and then on to the Putty. Staying at East Gresford as usual.
Thanks for the info on the Uki road.
Regards, Pete.

Pete, not sure if you know that Oxley Hwy is closed east of Walcha. As at 9.41 tonight it's still closed.
Thanks Al, probably not going that way anyway. Waterfall Way looks like the preferred route at this stage.
Regards, Pete.
Hi Al
The Uki road is an Ok road at best as it is fairly narrow road. But from murwillumbah I have the oprion of the Burringbah range or up through Natural Bridge to the Back if the Hinze dam to Cunungra.
Or we can play in the hill between Lismore and Casino.
