Well... I killed another deer with my hip this time. Riding to the house from work. 11 Miles back roads. Yep here comes a full grown deer running full bore head down straight at me. Here we go again. Braced for the impact. His head smashed right into my left thigh and hip. Massive pain. Pulled over on the first drive way into the corn field. Was afraid to move my left leg. Just sat there. Thinking that really fricken hurts. One of the guys I work with. Was in front of me in his SUV. He pulled over and came back. He said he saw it in the mirror. Said it hit me spun around and flew off into the corn. He said "you didn't even wobble". I was afraid to try and get off the bike. Was afraid hip might give out and then I would drop the bike. With him holding the bike too. I got off the bike. It looked fine some nicks on the grab rail. Shattered my deals gap dragon tail liscense plate bracket, and bent my collectors plate. But the tail frame looked straight. My thigh and hip was starting to tighten up. So got on the bike and headed to the house. On the way there. I noticed that the turn signals weren't working. Was late meeting a guy to talk about mudding the house. So showed him around the house. And he said none of my lights were working. So he gave me a ride to my sisters house. I'm icing my hip now. Got to work tomorrow. If it's not right I'll go up to the company clinic and get an X-ray.
Was on the 86 Fj1350r... again.

Geeze Louise Danny boy, you gotta give your bones a rest....at least for a year or so...
What time of the evening was the deer strike?
I recall Henry Russel (rvnmanic) tells a nasty tale of cutting a deer in half on his FJ. When the paramedics came they didn't know if all the blood was his or the deer's.
Hope you're ok Dan
FFS Dan, get a deer whistle.... Belay that, you need some fire power. The deer have clearly declared war. Maybe some peace talks are in order. Glad you are OK again.

Yeah, Henry sliced a deer up on Skyline Drive in VA. When was that, Henry? 2002?
Yah I don't know what they have about the 86, that they don't like. My first 86. That I only had for 2 1/2 months. It was the birds. I killed 6 birds with that one. 2 off my head one without a helmet at about 80 mph. Pierced one one rear brake lever.
It was right after work so 19:10. The first one was about 11:00. Right in the middle of the day.
OK Dan, you can't keep bouncing deer off your body indefinitely, one of these days the deer is going to win, I can just see an FJ....

Dan
Hope you are OK. Let us know. I'm sure it is not deer hunting season in WI yet.
Dave
Glad to hear you are as good as you are after that, Dan.
My brother just smoked a deer with his car yesterday!
I hate those animals!
That's the funny thing when the guy in the SUV pulled up across the road from me. His driver's door was all smashed in and had plastic taped over the window. He said a deer hit him last week.
About 10 years ago I hit 3 deer with 3 different cars, all in 1 year. My insurance guy was not happy! Come to think of it, neither was I. I wish they would change the laws to classify deer as varmints, like coyotes....Open season all year long!
Maybe they should move all them Deer Crossing signs away from busy traffic areas.... :bomb:
I've heard of automobiles being totaled after a deer strike. You certainly were very fortunate. In one way it appears you are blessed, in another way you're cursed. I wish you well and a speedy recovery.

The Aussie version of the deer scourge. The old Mustang (not mine) eating a Roo.
Sorry to hear about another Deer incident. :shok: The good news is that you were able to write about the experience. :drinks:
Hopefully your hip is OK and the soft tissue injuries will heal up quickly.
Fred
Thanks for all the well wishes guys. It's amazing how I got hit on my left hip. But all the muscles on my right side hurt.
Oh well I will eventually heal up.
But my bike will need to be repaired. Evidently his nose hit my front fairing. Before his head hit my hip. There are no chunks missing. But a couple of big horizontal crack's. Must have pulled the wires appart. Probably why all my lights don't work. Looks like I'll have to use some more plastex.
Probably the worst part is that it shattered my dragons tail liscense plate bracket.

I couldn't stop laughing.
Mate, great to hear you're ok and no broken bones.
Bummer about the plate, but now it has some road rash to make more authentic for long haulers :good2:
Just checked out the video. My deer must have been anti establishment. Either that or he couldn't understand the established crossing area's :sarcastic:
