I am going to order those screwdrivers from McMaster Carr that one of the members posted a link to. Sorry, I've forgotten who you are. Anyway, I find that a stubby screwdriver works best for my master cylinder cover screws. Longer screwdrivers hit the windscreen. So, in addition to a set of normal length screwdrivers I'd like to get one stubby to fit the master covers. Does anyone know what size the master covers screws are? Either #1 or #2.

The OEM master cylinder cover screws are a #2 JIS screw.

Buy the Allen screws and you don't need to think about those screw drivers. Great thing especially because those srews like to get stuck because of the interaction with brake fluid. We have the right screw drivers in Europe, but nonetheless these Allen ones are much better alternative.

Ditto on that one, for clutch and brake m/c. :good2:

Except that you still need the JIS screwdrivers for every other screw on the bike. If you are going to work on the bike, you must have the correct tools.

Joe,
You can get JIS Apex-style bits, three sizes for US$5. A common Apex bit holder lets you use a ratchet wrench or manual impact screwdriver with the bits.

True. I haven't given it much thought since we don't have such problems. Just focused on the master cover screws in my reply...
A set of JIS screwdrivers is definitely worth the cost. Wish I had gotten a set years ago.
These are what we have been using

Just my opinion, but I think a screwdriver with interchangeable tips is a great idea for your travel kit. In your shop... not so much. For me, I don't want to spend time swapping out tips or hunting for the correct size; I want to simply grab the correct screwdriver and go. Time is money. I like to work as efficiently as possible.
Your mileage my vary. :drinks:

All three ends hold a tip. So no need to swap. Don't even need to waste time picking up or looking for a different screw driver.

Now THAT'S efficient.
