Hello all,
I had a Red White FJ1100 that I loved some 21 years ago. Sold it when my daughter showed up. Had some other bikes since she turned 18. I always kept my eye out for a clean 87 FJ1200.
I found one that i pulled the trigger on yesterday. Needs a little carb work but I'm soooooo happy to find this relatively unmolested TC.
Welcome Bud, awesome find. Clean condition barn finds are really rare now days. Check out the RPM banner above, lots of good things have happened to the FJ aftermarket for upgrades and improvements.
Thanks FJ Monkey,
Was on RPM last night and drooling. Saved lots of links. Gotta get'er home and dig into the carbs and immediately safety wire my petcock first thing.
Can't wait to spend some quality road time with her.
Hi Bud, welcome back! Remember me?
There are a few of us are still around from the old Netpath days (predates Yahoo) Jon Cain, David Raforth, Frank Moore, Henry Russell, Lee Carkenord, just to name a few...
You know, we hear that a lot: "I had a FJ once and I wish I never sold it".
Some things never change, DavidR is still our forum carb guru:

RPM has been offering great carb cleaning and rebuilding service to FJ owners.
The ss Allen screw and o ring kit DavidR used to sell, is now sold by RPM at a very reasonable price.

Welcome back to FJ ownership. :hi:
Your story is like many others, myself included.
That is a great looking 87 that you found.
Fred

Thanks Pat,
My memory isn't what it once was but I have a vague memory of getting some helpful information from you when I tore my FJ1100 apart to clean and found the infamous FJ1100 frame crack at the rear motor mount if that memory is right and employed your fix or link to a fix, if I'm not mistaken. It was a good fix and would have lasted for decades. Sadly, some months later I sold her, less than 2 weeks after I sold that bike, I got a call from the a wrecking yard a couple counties east of me asking if I wanted the bike back or what. I said it was not my bike anymore and even though I turned in the California release of liability paper to DMV, the new owner had not finalized the paperwork before he crashed it. The wrecking yard guy said, well all I know is you still own it as far as California knows and I have to call you for release and storage payment or decline before I can lien it for the fees. I asked him how bad she was and he said, "It's bad, Real Bad, Real Real Bad, but you can have it back for $150.00". I declined and just played Taps that night.
Anyway it's so good to be back with a great FJ1200.
Thanks all for the welcome.
