I went and bought one of them RPM exhausts with a megaphone. Took me about an hour to get on. Most of this time was used trying to get the old head gaskets out and then the mid pipe rolled under the work bench. I must of spent 20 minutes cursing at RPM. By chance I happened to kick the trouble light and then I saw the last piece hiding under there. Looks pretty good now that's it's on.
I was going to do clean up tonight but I'll save that for the morning. It just started storming here so I closed my garage door. The last time I was out there wrenching during a storm with the garage door open a raccoon tried to take cover from the storm. I threw just about every tool in the garage at it trying to get it out. So, I figure I'll just skip that part tonight.
I ordered some cosmetic parts from the UK based FJ Owners Club. New lower fairing, fairing protector pieces, a new mirror. I think I'll start slowly restoring the bike now that I have spare cash.
Is it normal for the clutch lever to vibrate like it's falling apart? It's an old lever so I'll probably replace the whole assembly, just wondering if anyone else has seen that before. The bike has 70k miles on it, so I figure things would begin to wrattle.
You're gonna love that exhaust system.
My clutch lever does not rattle.
Joe
Check the bushing in the lever. They are prone to wear and can be replaced
Thanks for the heads up.
