Hi, so I'm going to do the YZF 600 rear wheel swap and have tried doing some research on what it will entail. I've read the entire set up is 16 MM to wide requiring removing 8mm from the Axel spacer on the chain side but I'm not sure what or how the disc brake bracket on the right side should be cut down by 8 mm. can someone please help me with this?
There is a pdf file in the Files section that should give you all the information that you need.

Thanks. Need to hook up with you and go for a putt when I get this done. Still need to pull the '73 TX650 out of storage.

Thanks loads, this helps a lot. i can get the machine work done nor problem. Got a set of non-antidive forks for the fron, some blue dots, and a 17' non ABS front wheel so we'll have her 17" front and back. :good:
You are in for a pleasant surprise, kudos!
I did the easier to fit, but harder to source bits for, suzuki rear swap and put a complete 89 fj front on my 84 FJ. Well with the effort to have 17" wheels front and back. Just need the blue spots now.
Hope it all goes well for you.

I'm looking forward the mod. I've got everything to do the YZF600 swap on hand. Got some other detailing and such before I get the old girl out on the road this year.
I did the full front end and rear wheel from the 1997 YZF600R on my 1987 FJ1200. I can't seem to post this in the files section. This is what I had to do for mine.
Bud,
Very nice write up. The one thing I would be very cautious with is that cheap chain. More than a few members here have broken chains and some have completely wiped out their engine when it did break.
Just a few quick examples of some broken chains.

Someone, at the last Willitts WCR broke a chain; along way from home. If I remember correctly, I think it was the Willitts year :wacko3:
A good DID ZVMX chain will last 35,000+ miles if maintained properly as well. It also has one of the higher tensile strengths on the market for a 530 chain at around 10,400 ft. lbs.
Robert, your memory is solid.
Steve (moparman) had the luckiest chain break in so far as he held it upright.
The thing bunched up around his front sprocket, holing the case.
On inspection it was believed to be the original chain, so don't be doing that.

Tough to loose an engine and possibly more if a chain breaks like that.
