1986 Yamaha FJ 1200. I owned this bike since October, last year. The bike was running but in poor condition. I'm new to this bike. I was not running bikes for 25 years. But thanks to this amazing forum, I was able to strip the carbs down, change oil, forks oil, checking wires, brakes, etc. Took me almost 4 months to do some basic maintenance because I didn't know the condition on the bike.I'm riding for 2 months, mainly the weekends.I purchased some parts from R.P.M.What I can say.Woah. Amazing power and very comfy.I'll post some mods in the forum and a dyno.Thank you guys.

What Mark said ^^ is very true.
Welcome and thanks for being a $ donor.
This forum costs money to host and your help is much appreciated!

First of all, welcome to the asylum. Many nice folks here that are generous with their knowledge. You may also appreciate the international nature of this forum too.
Interesting that your experience seems to be a recurring theme among new members here. Fella buys neglected FJ but is not knowledgeable about the platform and hasn't ridden in years. Comes to FJ Owners, learns about FJ's, fixes motorcycle, rides it and is impressed.

Thank you. I learned from you guys. Before I started to disassembly anything I read this forum for a quite bit. The bike is not bad.Still I have to fix a little oil leak around the alternator and a couple of melted connectors[ alternator and ignition switch]. I was riding basically old dirt bikes and once in a wile my friend's RD 350 and Honda CB 750. This is a bike of another league.I'm very happy. Please, if anybody is around South Florida or planning to visit, contact me so we can do some kokaloo.
Another Aussie welcome :hi:.
I'm same as you mate, learning from the forum.
I've an 86 as well. Sweeeeeet machines, Ambos Rule! :sarcastic:
Thank you. Awesome machine. I can't describe when I'm riding this bike the happiness I feel at the twist of the throttle. I didn't ride the bike for 4 weeks, due to knee surgery.I'm going to check for an oil ,leak around the alternator.
That feeling is called "Kookaloo".
