Title: Chin fairing question
Post by: aigram on March 27, 2019, 05:05:45 PM
Does anyone know if the skinny portion of the chin fairing (rearward portion of the fairing, aft of the black YAMAHA text) is symmetrical on the left and right side of the fairing? I'm looking to get my chin fairing repaired.

If others do not answer then I can have a look at one I am repairing when I get home tonight. I think the two sides are mirror shapes.

I assume that you need to repair the left side. I pulled a mold off the left side of a good fairing and have used it several times to repair fairings. I use West Epoxy and I have pretty good luck making a good fairing from a junk fairing. If you are interested we can discuss a loan of the mold.

If I had my house done. I would know where my plastex kit is. And you could come over and we could repair it in an afternoon. Then you could get it painted the next day. But I have no idea where it is. If you
wanted to buy a plastex kit and bring it over we could use the fairing off one of my bikes. The plastex kit comes with reusable.molding bars. But you'll want to buy a couple of spare bars. Just in case the repair is too big for the ones that come in the kit.

If they are mirror shapes, I think I should be able to get it repaired, as the right side is in great condition and could be used as a mold.
