I am looking at doing the front forks swap from a 92 onto a 86. Now the question i want matching wheels obviously, but would the 92 wheel be a straight swap or so I need spacers and a different axle?
Look for an early GSXR wheel. It is a straight swap with just a few spacers. Check the mods thread here and you will find all the info you need
The rear '92 wheel looks the same as your wheel already. no need to change that unless upgrading to the 17". The easiest swap for that is the GSXR wheel as big r stated. It looks almost the same. The 3 spokes are a bit straighter compared to the Yamaha design but people most people don't notice unless they are FJ people who already know about the swap.
The wheels i currently have are not the 3 spoke ones. The 92 one that i am putting on the front has 3 spoke wheel. Being i am getting them at a reduced price for buying both front and back complete with rotors and sprocket. I was just going to replace the rear with the 92 if its straight swap.
Oooooo, yea, forgot about those early wheels. Nothing to see here, just going on about my business now.
The spacers and such are different for the late model wheels on the rear. The axle and brake calipers are the same. Brake stay is the same I believe as well.

Thanks for letting me know I shall see what I need once I get them.

And that's the people that Matter..
I've done that swap and retained the original wheel by fitting 1200 calipers and replacing the rotors with early V-max items. (original rotors are to small in diameter). Retains the original look of the bike but sans ant-dive.
