Rural Oregon is where it's at... here's a video of the lake I'm now living on:

The campgrounds and day use areas along with the petroglyph lined hiking trail op the side of the cliff are all along the driveway to my house... I'm thinking this could be a rally in the making. I've taken a few rides and found some amazing roads and scenery along with some well placed stops... and essentially no traffic. I'll ride it more thoroughly next year and then propose something to the group if it makes sense. Shop is coming together as well, so we can have some manshed stuff up at my place. I think we can make this thing lift a bike somehow...

As far as the Portland stuff, I have a long time friend (also former CA) living there now and he's particularly in love with the homeless situation. They're on the corners in his neighborhood and the city won't help get them out it seems. Out here any homeless are frozen to death overnight (already in low 20's) and disposed of by the wildlife in the morning. Out here they don't all hate Californians (I think Bend is mostly ex-CA folks), but I'm claiming my birth city of Tacoma WA as our origin in most casual situations just to be safe... :hi:
Frank
Frank, from what I hear, claiming Tacoma as your former home is a good idea. I've heard of Ca hate in Oregon since the '80's.

Sadly that video reminds me too much of my current home.
Joe
Party at Frank's house!
About 20 of us will show up suddenly, (followed closely by the van delivering the keggers)
We will raise havoc, piss off your new neighbors, clog your toilets and properly christen your home....
Diane will be soooo pleased (popcorn)
Saw this thread and it reminded me of a quote I saw online elsewhere...
"I wonder how many hypocritical liberal elites are hiding in red country these days? I know Texas and Nevada have campaigned heavily against being "Californicated" by liberals fleeing the shithole for a better life, but they're bringing their stupid ideas with them, like a cancer, slowing destroying the nation, one retiree at a time." - unknown author

well at least I'm "elite"...
Frank
I know, right? I wouldn't have generalized quite so much, but it rubbed my funny bone.
Looking forward to the party!
Rick, sadly I feel your quote is right on target. Calif expats are ruining other western states. As much as I would like to leave, I wonder what the reception would be in a conservative western state. Regarding NV, the libs in Las Vegas are now out voting the rest of the state, much like how LA and SF out vote the rest of CA. Sad.
Build a wall along the top of the Rockies Joe, from Canada to Mexico (just like they did in Game of Thrones), which will stop the Cali's getting to the East Coast and spoiling things there too
Hate to tell you but a lot of the east coast of the US takes its lead from Kalifornia. They don't call us poor slobs "fly over country" for nothing.... :dash1:
