Title: Instrument cluster lamps
Post by: Mike 86 in San Dimas on September 15, 2018, 11:36:42 AM
My future has me removing my instrument cluster for speedo fix. While I am there, I will replace lamps. Anyone buy and still know of an LED lamp to use?

A few pics of what I did a few years back. http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=9599 (http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=9599)

I'm still satisfied with the choice. Not too bright, and I do a ton of night riding, though the amber lens gets washed out to more of a yellow. Double rows of SMDs on the side and 2 on the top. I can't find the description off hand but it's substituting for a #194 bulb so you can start with that in searches to at least get the base correct. I bought a bag of these in white, and a bag of blue.

I have found that COB LED T10 bulbs work well.

Keep in mind that the low fuel light and low oil light need a filament type bulb for resistance purposes.

Can you put a resister in-line with the LED bulb for the fuel and oil lights?

Hi!

I used lamps from my car, its the same type. But I also left the rubber green shield on, and now it is a pleasant green background light in the cluster  :good2: Mazda 929 cluster lamps. 12 Volts 5 watt. Exellent result.
