Of course all my plastics need repair. What kind of plastic are the fairings of the FJ made of? I have the Harbor Freight plastic rod kit that includes PVC, PC PP, PC ABS. Will one of those work?
Thanks for your help!
The main fairing, side scoops, the black infill panels, the instrument shroud, large side covers and the belly cowling are all made from ABS plastic.
As for a source of ABS plastic, the Lego building blocks are made from ABS. A glass jar with some Acetone and a few small Lego pieces, once the pieces are dissolved, you have your own ABS cement.

I only use Plastifix (https://www.polyvance.com/PlastiFix-Kits-1/)

Yep, it was the only thing I ever found that would work for the little mounting tabs on the front fender that always crack. I used the broken off piece to create a mold and plastifix'd a new tab on both sides. Amazing stuff.
The best adhesive I've ever found for plastic and metal is autobody epoxy. Not hardware store epoxy but body panel epoxy. I had a body shop buddy test the strength of the panel adhesive on his frame rack. The metal tore before the adhesive let go. I've used it to repair the upper fairing on my FZR 1000 and recently used it to add metal tabs to the turn signal mounting tabs on the FJ.

The side panels on my Moto Guzzi had some plastic missing in the area of the holes for mounting them to the frame. I successfully used cable ties and super glue, been on now for a few years, still solid.

Joe,
Does this product have a name, a Part Number, manufacturer, or source?
.
You can buy various brands at auto body paint stores. The important part is that you're buying body panel adhesive.
You don't need the applicator gun either unless you're willing to purchase it. This is what I last used. Looks to be from 3M.

Tuned Forks,
Is this the right stuff? Is this a good price?

Yep, that's the stuff. I more recently bought a different brand and I was gonna take a pic but it's not in my garage currently. If I can get to it this week, I'll post a pic.
Sorry but the memory doesn't recall what I paid. Too many years ago. I take it that you don't have a body shop, paint supply store near you?

Joe,
Boondocks of Utah, as far as commerce goes . . . I survive here by the Internet, eBay, and Amazon mostly.
I often have to explain what I want to the stores here, and they usually tell me that I really should patent all these good ideas. :dash1:
Even if I can find something "locally," it may be an hour or two away by roads.
I completely understand Red. The internet and UPS are your friend.
