Title: Finding my old bike
Post by: xenotron on August 15, 2018, 01:15:38 PM
Hi guys, its been a while since I was on here. I sold my newer FJ and bought a Fazer 1000, its a nice bike but I still miss my very first FJ.
I was wondering if anyone knows how to find the guy who owns it? I have checked DVLA and MID and it was last on the road in 2015.
The guy is no longer on ebay so I cant find any way to contact him to see if he still has it, or would like to sell it.
The last I knew it was in or around London UK, the reg is J126 UNB. Any help would be great.

Cheers John

if it were me, i would try searching through the VIN, rather than the reg. If you have that info that is. Try checking crash reports, maybe it was wrecked? Thats just where i would start, but i dont know how our systems here in the US differ from over there.

You can also look here to see if the bike has been listed.

I'm sure you can get the registered owner info from DVLA, but you have to pay for it and I think you have to give a reason for wanting to know (a legitimate one)

I'd phone DVLA at Swansea, explain what I want and ask them how to go about it. That might help.

Cheers.

Thanks Millietant, I think the DVLA legitimate reasons are if its been dumped or involved in a crime. They play the data protection card for my reasons, but thanks for the reply.

Back home with you again?

Looks like a solid foundation to work from.  Good luck and enjoy!

Good for you!

We get a surprising amount of folks who sold their FJ's, moved on to other bikes, only to regret letting their FJ's slip away. Years later they buy another FJ.

We get very few folks who take the effort track down their old FJs and actually get them back. You are in a special catagory....

That bike is lucky to have you as her owner. Let us know how we can help.

Cheers lad

Pat.

Funny that.
Was at a Sacramento dealership yesterday, looking at the new metal, with Rocket Ron and Kenn.
A guy rolls over and says, wow an Fj. I had one of those, sold it and bought and FZ1; it's nowhere near as comfortable. I sure do miss that Fj.
As you can imagine it made my day and saved me thousands of dollars.
Keep em. Ride em.

I have had lots of bikes since this, XJR1300, FRJ1300, Bandit 1250, Fazer 1000, and although were all nice bikes I never enjoyed riding them as much as the old FJ
