Hello Everyone!
My name is Mark Hollars. I'm 49 years old, started riding motorcycles at age 7 and have loved every minute of it. :good2:
This is my 2nd fj - 1993, my first was an 86 (should not have sold it). I've owned quite a few bikes over the years but I have to admit the FJ is my favorite.
Great site, Lots of good info here! Hope to meet some of you someday.
I owned the fj I have now for about 2 years. The bike was in great shape when I bought it except for a small leak by the front sprocket and I thought no big deal just needed to replace the front countershaft seal. Boy was I wrong, cases had been ground into with what looked like a master link that had lost its clip and came partway out. I tried several different kinds of epoxies with no luck. Finally resigned myself to the fact that I would have to split the cases and have it welded. Then I came across a guy parting out a 1993 FJ and was wanting 800.00 for the motor and I thought wait a minute this might be an option. Long story short I bought the motor and installed it in the bike (mileage was within a 2000 miles of the original motor) first to second gear - no issues, compression within 1psi between cyls. motor is quiet and runs great plus now I have the original motor for spare parts.
Cheers to everyone!
Mark
