Title: Shed day at Troyskie's 25th August
Post by: Troyskie on July 30, 2018, 04:02:27 PM
G'day fellas.
Shed day at my place (Nowra) 25th August  :good2:.

With the drought as it is, I assume we'll have decent weather, but fingers crossed.

I'm not sure if the family are heading away, or hanging around to join in the fun. If they stay I'll be down to two spare rooms, and two extra blow-up mattresses.

G'day Mr Troyskie

Are you trying to break your drought?

Hope I can make it and if so it'd be only a day visit as my daughter will be arriving home from Vancouver after being in the US/Canada for a month the day before on Friday, so she might want to see me  :sorry:

But I'll be crossing my fingers too

Cheers
Alan

Family first mate  :good:
I'm conflicted about the rain. The farmers really need it, and I'm pretty satisfied with beer.

I've always been a nervous nelly on the bike in the wet, so dry is my preference  :pardon:

Mate, back in the days when I was bulletproof, if it was raining and I had nothing else to do I'd roll the bike out and go for a run down the coast, you knew the limits when the bike started sliding, i found out it was good practice for 3 weeks of rain when on a tour of Tassie.   :wacko2:
I do prefer the rain to wind.

Sounds good Troy, I'll be there.

Between my house and yours (and Pete's) is some of the best riding in the country, then there's the company, the stories, the fine regional wines (that's anything from the local bottle-o), the fire pit, the BBQ, roo lotto .......wouldn't miss a weekend at Troyskie's Resortskie!

Awesome Noel! I think I've a nice McLaren Vale cab sav to share!

Al, my new excuse is I don't want to get all my shiny bolts and screws rusty  :sarcastic:

Fella's, should I gee-up Simon for a Dyno run? I'd like to see what the 'big bore' I bought from WA has in it. I've also never run my 12 on the dyno... :unknown:

G'day Troy, I'm keen for another dyno run. It's always great to hear some angry noise coming from shackled FJ's. Jool's might even take up the HP challenge I levelled at him last time I saw him!
It will be great to catch up with FJ boys again and have a couple of beers.
Looking forward to it.
   Regards, Pete.   :drinks:
PS I'll let you know if Steve and Alf can make it.

On another point fellas, Simon will be away that weekend & can't do a dyno run. I suppose we can put our bikes on their centre stands and rev shit out of them to see who has the best 'Bond' mod.....I know Effie is a 'Bond Girl' with the worn valve stem guide seals and stuck oil rings.

I suppose I'll have to amuse myself with Yummy and 'Big-Bore' at the dyno with Simon on my own some time (tough life I know  :sarcastic:). I also need a name for 'Big-Bore', but will wait till I see what she has in store for me...perhaps she's a Bond Girl too...hmm, that might be a naming regime in itself.....

If any of the girls have USD forks, you should name her "Pussy Galore". At least, that's what I've heard...

Mate give us a yell when you're to "amuse" yourself at the dyno, I'll be down for the viewing (life is tough  :sarcastic:).
Have you dressed your girls yet?

Have you ever been to Nerriga Pub?, just asking as I might take a run down there one day for lunch.

Cheers
Alan

Nerriga pub, I'm local! No, not really, but yep fairly familiar with it. Some nice twisties just north as you head down into the river valley. If you're going to head out via Oallen Ford to Tarago enjoy the really messed up road. Better than dirt, but not by much (unless they've pulled the old Jet Paver out of retirement  :sarcastic:).

I'm up for a run down there. Not too far from my place. I just need to get the dresses for the girls back & then I can roll again.

Noel, I believe we can have an in-depth discussion about this.

Lukeymate, Hmmmmm, Pussy Galore, hmmmm. I might see if she has that in her....

Johno passed by today & had a good suggestion. Do we go for a ride on Saturday in lieu of a dyno run? The other option is to pretend to work on bikes whilst telling tall stories (hold my beer...), rip off a few scabs, flash up the fire pit, and do a rain dance for the cockies? If we ride then there are really two options, north past the pie shop, or south (he he via Nerriga) down the Clyde and back. North will be a bit under 4 hours, south about 6hr, 7 if we eat at Braidwood. I like beer, or heavy reds.....

Still trying hard to get there for Saturday only

So do them "heavy reds" include Port? Or a Brown Muscat.

I thought he meant that his FJ's were the "Heavy Reds". But port works well too.....you can keep the Brown Muscat. Although at $2.50 at bottle it is now in my price range.  :wacko3:

Gday Mr Troyskie. Short time, no see.
With no F3A comps in August, you can pencil me in for the weekend.
Hopefully Alan can make it on the Saturday so I will have a fellow FJ'er to keep me company on the ride down.
Looking forward to seeing you all.

Getting all excited about heading off for a ride next week and planning my trip to Troyskie's, one of my favourite rides, and just realised it's Winter!

With no detour if the road is impassable, only a massive backtrack, I think I will have to go coastal to make sure I get there.

See ya there boys.

I'm getting the shed, firepit, and accom ready (sorry the pool is closed  :sarcastic:).

Can I get a show of hands for Friday and Saturday sleepers please?

I've had some drama with getting my bikes ready. I might only have my sons' KLX, Pete's support car, or my ride-on, as the paint shop is finished prep but doesn't think they'll have much ready before the day  :dash2:. The bikes have been naked for a couple of months now & I'm getting edgy.

At least we can do the shims and have a look at the jetting on 'Big-Bore' .

Pete, doing well mate, second to last physio visit tomorrow for my shoulder not pelvis. I think I must have strained my drinking arm with the heavy reds  :good:.

Al, hmm port, that's an idea, but normally I mean wines (no! I'm not whining )

Noel, very big backtrack if the road is closed. At least the coast is better than the Hume  :sarcastic:.

Daz, well it is windy August, so a good time to be wheels down mate. I look forward to catching up.

Mark, If Sparkles is up for a trip to the chilly south I'll get you a Brown Muscat  :rofl2:

Noel, let me know when you're heading this way. I might be able to meet you down south of here for a coffee.
Troy,  Alf, Steve and I will be there on Friday. If Johno or Phil want to join us on the way up the coast, give me a call and we'll work out some details.
See you in a week and a half.

Hey Troyski

Sparkles is up for the trip, unfortunaley I am not. Just a few too many commitments up here at the moment. Brown Muscate ( Or Brown Dog as dad called it) I am familiar with it. It was a favorite with dad and his mates when they went fishing with the square hooks ( nets) for mullet. Put the nets in. Consume a flagon or two of the dog then watch the fun as these very drunk guys tried to row a boat and pull nets in with fish flapping about.

I will get down to your end of the world one day soon and consume something a bit finer than the dog.

It will be great to catch up Pete!

Fellas, I've had a huge let down on having the bikes repainted. There is a long queue of people ahead of me, THAT WEREN'T THERE BEFORE!!

So, instead of yelling (well, except in caps above), I've put all my shit bits on one of the 11's.

Just finished, it is dark, and the roos are just waiting for a foolish Troyskie to night ride, so I won't know if it is really rideable till tomorrow.

At worst, we'll sort it out on the shed day. From the way it ran (really rough), I think it will need some shims. If the PO didn't do the advance, I'll probably do that too. It could also use a good look at the carbies.

On the other hand, it might just need a good fang .

At least this way I can have a bike to ride if I can get it sorted.

Bloody Hell Troy, it's hard work getting to your place in Winter.

I am now onto option #4, up the coast.  Even the Bonang Highway has a snow alert at the top end and rain is forcast for 3 of the 4 riding days there and back.

See you Friday.

A great big thanks to Troy for putting on a great weekend and for putting up with us. Thanks also to all the FJer's that made the effort to attend and contribute to a memorable weekend. A few jobs got done to some FJ's, a small amount of alcohol consumed and some great conversations. It's always fantastic to catch up with fellow owners and talk about everything. The one thing, on a gathering like this that stands out to me, is that FJ talk is generally only a small percentage of the many and varied topics of conversation. Always entertaining, interesting and fun.
LONG LIVE FJ SHED DAYS!

Troy...It just took a rainy weekend for me to remove the left overs from the last rainy weekend we had (more than two months ago). I am aiming for a record. Longest time I can go without pulling the bike apart. Up to three months now. Strangely I havent felt the urge now that it seem to be running like new.

I have put a trip to a Troyski mens shed day on my bucket list.
