Just decided to upgrade to R1 calipers, new discs and a FJR1300 m/c. The m/c is en route to me but I reckon it doesn't have a FJR brake lever with it. Can I re-use the FJ1200 lever or do I need the FJR lever to match the m/c?
Still a newbie to be kind if this is a well worn question.
I doubt the FJ lever will fit the FJR master. You might also review this recent post. http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=17917.msg180647#msg180647 (http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=17917.msg180647#msg180647)
There is no reason to ask the same question in two different areas....
I can tell you for a fact that the original FJ lever will not fit the FJR master cylinder.
You will have to obtain an FJR lever.
You will also have to address the brake light switch. It uses a different connector.......

You can buy the connector.
The stock number is M3PLPS on this page: http://www.oregonmotorcycleparts.com/connectors.html (http://www.oregonmotorcycleparts.com/connectors.html)
FJR Brake Master Cylinder Switch (http://www.rpmracingca.com/proddetail.asp?prod=M%2FC%3ABrakeLightSwitch) Is the switch you will need to make the brake lights work properly.
fjr master c will fit so called blue dots brake and all fittings will fit original wires they have only 2 abico connectors to fit
but be avare fjr cylinder is 16mm so you get very fast responce(ss brake lines in my bike) when you braking, and your front forks dont notice that.and
ilike to use fjr adjustable lever come with master.so fj original dont fit tested.
hope i text rigth, idont use any silly translator..
Let's review shall we....
The oem FJ m/c is a 5/8" dia. piston (16mm) You can see it cast 5/8 on the body.
Early 2003 FJR m/c's were 14mm...You can see it cast 14 on the body
All later FJR m/c's are 15mm.... You can see it cast 15 on the body.
I am not aware of any front brake FJR m/c's that are 16mm.
