Title: Suppertrapp on an 86
Post by: CanDman on April 11, 2018, 03:47:37 PM
Someone on site ....not saying who...  :blum1:     is asking whether the pipes will fit on an 86......  I asked a very good source who said there is no issue except one...... the chin cowling.....can anyone confirm whether the pipe and cowling get along or not??  :drinks:

I just installed a SuperTrapp internal disc exhaust on my '95. Absolutely no fowling issues with the exhaust to the chin cowling. Oil drain plug is also accessible without having to remove the exhaust.

I have the external disc supertrapp system on my 91. It was on my 86 when I bought it. When I put it on the 91, I had to notch the lower cowl to clear the exhaust. I believe about 1/2" of plastic had to be removed on the bottom of the cowl. If I remember correctly, when I replaced the lower cowl on my 86 I had the same issue.

My case was like Derek's, an easy notch to clear the down pipes. The external disc variety allows access to the drain plug. If yours somehow doesn't, Paul Lawson made a handy extension fitment that I'm sure he'd share the 'how to' with you.

I have now installed a Supertrapp on my 92, just clears the cowl, however seems running lean, pods and 122.5 mains, but need to test soon as this f'in rain stops. see you and Donna at the rally I hope.

Yes Henning, it would be great to see you again, but not this year. Donna and I will be in Europe at rally time. Sad to be missing this year's rally. We're planning to be returning to a rally next year though.
