I'm getting ready to paint my blue/black 89 with the 86/87 red and white paint schemes (if you feel this is blasphemous, do us both a favor and stop reading now... this may get traumatic)
And I'm looking for a decent sticker kit. So far I've found "RDdecals" but I have two questions...
1. Does anyone have any experience with this outfit, can you recommend anyone who makes the FJ kits that you feel is better?

2. What's the difference between the bikes with the "perimeter frame concept" fairing stripe versus the "lateral frame concept" stripe? I'm ashamed to admit that I've never noticed the difference before, and doing a quick search through different years of Google Image Searches, it doesn't seem to be a year or model difference. I have found 1100's with both designations as well as 1200's. Is is a market designation, perhaps Canada/EU got one and we got the other?

One more thing... I just contacted RDdecals and they are saying that the stock "black" stripes were actually dark metallic blue, I guess much like my 89 looks black in photos but is dark blue metallic in daylight. Can one of you guys with a stock 86 or 87 let me know what your "black" stripes look like in sunlight? Thanks again!!!

Dark blue for 87. I would have to check about how much metallic is in it and I find the stripe on my bike a lot darker than what you are showing.
And you are correct on the lateral and perimeter. Euro and American. Right now I can't remember which is which

This is a pic of one of the 1/2 dozen covers I have. It says "Lateral Frame Concept". This is probably from a Canadian bike. I bought a bunch of FJ stock a couple of years ago from a wrecker in Toronto who was retiring. I'm assuming an American bike would be the same...? :scratch_one-s_head: Hope it helps.
Laterial Frame is on Steve's Canadian '86.
I used RDdecals for the chin fairing decals on my '85. Very good quality but a bit expensive. "Perimeter frame" and "Lateral Frame" are just a different name for the same concept. We got the "Lateral Frame" decal here in Australia.
