Title: Original Yamaha Soft Luggage
Post by: axiom-r on November 24, 2017, 11:21:39 AM
I am curious to know if anyone is still using the original soft luggage saddlebags that were available for the FJ's back in the day?

Anyone? Bueller?

I have a set of Yamaha bags. Then I found a GIVI set up so I have not used them. I figure that I will use them when I get my '86 back on the road and use it for an overnighter.

I'm looking for a forum member that has a tattered set and might appreciate some new ones....   I have a brand new pair that I am never going to use and would like to give them to someone that will....

:good2:

That is awesome Tim, years ago I offered up my old Chase Harper bags for the cost of shipping to a member in need. I never got the cost of shipping from them. However, that is the only time I was ever stiffed for helping another FJowner. Mine are packed for moving so no pictures, they seem well built, I hope you find them a good home.

:yahoo: I have received the bags from Tim. They look great. Thank you for offering these up. I will be doing a RTE to Kansas City on Sunday. They have arrived just in time to give them a try out.

Awesome Fred!  I hope you get many miles and many years from them!  I think there are some mounting tricks too if I recall...  I used a set of these in 87' and 88' but cannot recall exactly what the tricks were to keep them tight when all loaded up - I am sure someone here will have some advice.

Enjoy!!!

Fred has already asked about a set of these. I hope to make more sets after the holidays.

I just used an occy strap from foot peg brackets through pillion grab rail prior to placing soft luggage on bike to stop it from swinging into wheel,
at end of trip taking off was a POP!

Any chance you could make that model available? I'd like to make a set or two as well?
