So I was tracking down what I thought was an exhaust leak in my #3 header pipe. So I pulled all the header pipes off to clean them up anyhow and discovered that both the 2 and 3 header pipes are cracked about 2" down on the inside.
Has anyone else had this problem and what did you do to fix it?
Since it's a double walled pipe, any welding would have to be done from the inside.
Classic failure, get new ones from an 86/87, single wall and they polish up quite nice. Or other aftermarket options. The RPM system also polish up well. And super light.
I thought I read another post around here that I can use the header pipes up through 1995, is that not the case?
Used single wall FJ header pipes are plentiful on eBay. The single wall pipes are from model year 1986 to 1995 and they are ALL interchangeable between model years. The individual pipes are numbered and will only fit to the corresponding cylinder. Even though they are black, and with age can look in bad shape. They are actually Stainless Steel and if you remove the paint, they polish up very well.

Sent you a PM.
I had the same problem on the header pipes of my '85.
