Hi all,
Just purchased a FJ1200 1991 3CV for 300 euro, after it had been left in a barn for 5 years. Stripped down the carbs and cleaned them, new oil, new fuel, and she starts! although running a bit rough! Going to balance the carbs and hopefully that will help. Also there's a bit of a clatter, but I've had a look at the timing chain and that looks okay, so I'm hoping that once the carbs are sorted that'll go.
It's going to need some new tires as the old ones are bald as a eagle... and a damm good clean, but I'm very happy!
Don't 'spose anyone has a spare left hand side air scoop, with the inner ducting bit?
Chris
Cheers from Croatia! :drinks: Nice that you joined the FJ community.
Thanks Balky.
There's some lovely riding out in Croatia, bet you're having fun!
Bonjour Chris, Welcome! Good for you resurrecting a barn find! Looks like you got a good deal.
Re: Scoop, Post a request down in the "Parts Wanted" section and keep an eye on eBay.
For example, on the US eBay there is a '92 right scoop currently for sale now, although you need a left scoop...my point is that from time to time, those body parts do come up for sale.

Merci Par.
I shall keep my eyes open for one :)
PS your bike looks lovely!!
Welcome to the forum.. :hi:
Finding a left side air scoop actually should not be that difficult. The key is knowing that there is a difference between the 3 generations of 1200's. The air scoops do Not Interchange. Here in the US, we generally identify the bikes by year. I know in other parts of the world, they are identified by a 3 digit code.
1TX, 3CV or 3CW 3YA or 3XW
1986/1987 1988-1990 1991-1996
In your photo, it appears that you have a 3YA or 3XW. A air scoop from a 3CV will not work on the FJ pictured.
The inner duct Is interchangeable between all years of the 1200 and easily found on eBay.
Fred
Thanks aviavtionfred.
That's very helpful, I didn't realise they were different for the different models!
I thought that I have a 3CV . It was first registered on 24th Jan 1991, but it says that on the reg doc. 3CX ? I'm not really familiar with the differences in the models. Frame no. is 3CX008810.
Cheers

Yep, and the Alps are close to me! :dance2:
But there are roads good for riding in France, too. At least from what I saw on Youtube. :music: Maybe some day....hmmm :gamer:
yes the roads here are stunning, made all the better due to the few cars that use them.
Looking forward to getting my bike back together and trying them out. Hopefully before winter sets in.

Hey Chris, FYI, the 3CX FJ's were models made for the French market.
The production number 8810 puts you in the range of 8101-12000 which identifies your bike as a 1991 model.
We know that it's a Gen 4 bike by the fairing, but your production number confirms it.
