Hello,
I noticed that a local chop shop has a 2001 R6 and I'm considering trying to buy the front calipers for my 1989 FJ.
I assume they are bolt on...
Does anyone know if I should also try to purchase that master as well, look for something else or use my original one.
Does a 2001 R6 master have a larger bore than a stock brake master.
Thanks for any info.
I think its a 2002 front R6 master reservoir I have on my '93 FJ with blue spot calipers, I'm not sure of the bore differences. The braking is ok, but I think I'm due for new discs. My '94 FJ with the standard master and blue spots with new front discs has savage front braking, much better than the '93. :unknown:
I am not sure of the year anymore but I bought a complete setup R6 for my FJ, calipers, lines and master cylinder. It works great. The diameter is 14mm on the R6 master. I had no problem connecting the brake switch wires. I sourced different SS brake lines to fit the setup onto the FJ. The diameter on the FJ master is 5/8". I never tried the blue dots with the FJ master after finding the matched setup. The complete R6 setup gives progressive and powerful 2 finger braking. I recommend SS brake lines while making the swap.
Hope it helps.
