Title: 1xj vs 1tx
Post by: Sir Limpalot on August 17, 2017, 04:09:34 PM
Hi, new FJ-owner and I have a couple of questions:
I have two FJ1200s (I bought another while waiting for papers on the first), one is a 1986 - 1XJ and the other is a 1987 - 1TX.
Could anyone tell me the difference between the two, if any?

Thanks.

The '87 is better looking.

There is very little, if any, difference between the two models listed. They are both considered the 1st evolution of the 1200 range. 2nd evo is the 88/89 and the chandes to them are mostly cosmetic, whit the exception being the 17" front wheel with bigger brakes and 4 spot calipers. The other change was from a gravity fed fuel system (which yours should have) to a pressurised systom with fuel pump.

Apart from the main fairing everythin else is interchangable.

Hope this helps

Mark

Same bike different but same colors. The 87 colors are red and white like the 86 but opposite I believe. Looking at FJ Flyer's avatar I think that is the 87

I thought the 86 and the 87 should be the same, but the vin on the 86 had me wondering.
Thank you for clearing it up.  :good:
