Title: Carb top cover
Post by: Sparky84 on August 12, 2017, 10:18:47 PM
G'day All
Took my carbs to get ultrasonic cleaner and the guy also does vapour blasting, I told him no vapour blasting but he did a fuel bowl and it looked good but then he did one anodised top and took all the anodising off, it's all silver now so I said no more.

What I need to know is, will the top rust now and do I need to give it a coat of paint?

Cheers Alan

Thanks Dave.

Any anodized paint colour around?
Do I need high temp paint?

I don't think you should need high temp paint on the carb caps. You could try DupliColor Metalcast paint if you want to somewhat replicate the cadmium finish that they originally had.

what about trying electroless nickel plating?
Looks great (ok, in FJ does not matter) and fuel resistant

Paint it red, rattle can, and enjoy it.
