I really liked my Buell Lowered foot pegs that were on my '89. The only issue I had was..... They were very narrow and after multiple 200-400-700 mile days, the small cross section made my feet a bit sore. I have found a wider version that is about the same width as the OEM pegs.

Old thread I know, but is there a part number for these Fred?

Here are links to the Ulysses Wide foot pegs in Black.
Buell Ulysses lowered footpeg set in Black. https://st-paul-harley-davidson-buell.myshopify.com/collections/footpegs/products/n0006-1ak-genuine-buell-ulysse-black-rider-footpegs-for-xb12x-xb12xt-b3j
If you prefer a narrow, more racebike style, there is a drop version from the Lightning model. These are HALF the price of the Ulysses pegs.

I may have a new in the box pair for the Lightning model Buell as well as a used out of the box pair of the same.
I'd sell them

In the used set, which I also had on my Honda XX, you can see the little nylon bushings I made, as the pin's were smaller on one of the bikes.
With the Buell lower pegs installed. I can ride with the balls of my feet on the pegs and my heels on small extensions that are on the footpeg brackets.

Who would have thought that installing the lower Buell pegs would turn out to be the single most effective comfort improvement for my 68 year old knees?

Fred,
Some riders have adapted the wide GoldWing "footpegs" to their bikes, maybe with a bit of tinkering. Steel shanks in the soles of your riding boots are another possible way to go, too.
Gotta like your ride, so do what you may need there, for your comfort.

Agreed, although mine are only 60 years old.
I installed a set of I believe R1 footpegs on my 86. Dropped the foot about an inch, made quite a difference
Can see why none of the photos show the original springs fitted in these now I've just fitted mine with the springs what a pain in the arse that was.
Fitted them to my 1993 3xw buel pegs are thicker than original so had to be filed down and the internal spring gap is 1mm too narrow so that had to be drilled out. Mine spring down now like the originals.
Lot of work to get your feet/knees 1 inch lower.
