Hello,
I bought two 1986 FJ1200's a couple weeks ago. One I'm fixing up and the other came as a parts bike. Upon trying to rebuild the brake calipers I soon came to realize that they did not come with any pistons in them. Previous owner isn't responding as to where they are so I'm stuck buying a new set. Whats got me stumped is that the runner has dual piston calipers and the parts bike has single piston calipers. I've been looking all over ebay and the internet but can not find a set of replacement pistons that fit these calipers. My guess is that the previous owner upgraded from a single piston to a dual piston off another FJ1200, I just don't know what year.
Here are some photos of the calipers. First two are of the dual piston and second two are of the single piston caliper.
Thanks for the help

The 2 4 pots have an adapter bracket. If they originally came off an FJ then they are '89+.
Front brake calipers, What year did they change?
In the US, the FJ went to 4 pot calipers in 1989. For Canada, and the rest of the world, the change happened for the 1988 model year.

I forgot to mention that the adapter brackets are sought after for some that want to keep the AD forks but put blue/gold dot calipers on. I have been looking for one or a set to reverse engineer. Then I could create (post) a set of CAD data that any machine shop could use to make them. If you would not mind I would like to borrow one or both from you.
I'd recommend not buying replacement pistons for those calipers. Your money would be better spent finding a set of Blue/Gold/Silver dot calipers. You'll probably spend less (even if a new 14mm MC is needed) and get superior brake feel as well.

Example:
Complete_Brake_System (http://www.ebay.com/itm/YAMAHA-YZF600-COMPLETE-FRONT-BRAKE-MASTER-CYLINDER-CALIPER-L-R-CALIPERS-YZF-600-/151957192067?hash=item23615abd83:g:X-4AAOSwL7VWoBTC&vxp=mtr) for $70.
Since your bikes are 1986, you will need one or more chain rub guards for sure.
