My 92 reads very high (the needle is significantly above the full mark) when I fill the tank and even though it drops down nearly to the empty mark I don't think I have ever had to use the reserve. When it is on E and I fill it up I'm putting in maybe a little more than 4 gallons at most. Is that normal? If that is not normal, what could be the possible issue? Is there any way to adjust the fuel gauge so it reads more accurately?
When you have exactly 1/2 tank, what does the gauge needle show?
You can adjust the fuel sender float rod by bending it up or down.
This may take you a couple of try's to get it right.
Put in exactly 1/2 tank of gas. Bend the rod so the gauge needle shows 1/2 tank.
Or... disconnect the hose from the fuel pump and let the tank drain. Now bend the rod until the gauge reads Empty.
Personally, I don't care if the gauge is not accurate when the tank is full. But I really want to know how much is in the tank when it's getting close to empty.

I exclusively use the tripmeter and calculate the MPG at every fillup. My gauge is way above the full line at fillup too.
You can replace the gauge fairly easy with a brand new Speed Hut gauge. The gauge is programed to your tanks fuel sending unit. You have the ability to set the Full, empty and low light position wherever you choose.
I have the Fuel/volts combo gauge
Here is a couple of examples.
In the dual gauge, You can have Speed Hut change the 2nd gauge to read Oil Temp for about $35.00 extra. The 3 gauges shown run between $105.00 to $150.00, give or take a few dollars. I am extremely happy with my Speed Hut gauges.
