In another thread, talking about the OEM rear brake switch. Noel posted a comment of an aftermarket part that he has used for some time and has had Great success with. The part has a lengthy name. Universal hydraulic brake light switch banjo bolt. Since Noel's comment, I have thought a bit on this and believe this part has a couple of added uses. First order of consideration. These are available in 2 different thread pitches. 1.0 and 1.25. I do know that different manufacturers of master cylinders use different thread pitch. Case in point, the OEM FJ Sumitomo rear caliper and the Suzuki GSX-R750 Tokico rear caliper do not have the same banjo bolt thread pitch. They come in both a single and a double line version that would allow for the use with the two line race version front brake lines.

These transducers come in both a straight and 90 degree style. As Noel mentioned he has had Great success with the part working with the rear master cylinder to activate the brake light.

My new thoughts are this.... Pretty much ALL front brake and clutch master cylinders in a similar configuration to the FJ OEM master cylinders all work the same and do the exact same thing.. Typically the deciding factors are... Appearance, bore diameter, banjo bolt/hose orientation, and brake light/clutch switch wiring and functionality.

The pressure transducer takes the switch out of the equation and allows you to not have the switch wiring to mess with. Especially if the donor master cylinder comes with an OEM 3 wire switch.

I have not installed any yet, but I may after the Colorado Rally.

The rear brake switch can be a PITA and I have never liked the cheesy linkage set up.

Good thinking on these switches. I too, hate the cheesy rear brake light switch/spring linkage thing-a-ma-bob. I have had to "adjust" that spring, usually rather hamfistedly, on both FJs that I have owned.You could even make the clutch safety switch work on your 1990, if you haven't fixed that already.
