I think it may be time to update OEM rear shock on my 84FJ?
Now while I'm replacing shock what other bits do I need other than the shock, does it come with everything I need and just bolt it in?
Cheers Alan
I replaced mine with a Nitron shoc a few months ago, is a straight swap, but worth checking/ greasing up the roller bearings on the mounts while your there.
I would plan on a complete disassembly of the swing arm and all the shock linkage for servicing.
Unlike the '86/87 FJ's that have needle bearings in the shock linkage, the early '84/85's only have nylon bushings which *must* be lubed.
I recommend a vented shock boot to protect your shock.

I looked at RPM but I did not see a listing for a shock boot. I know Randy has them because they come with his new RPM shocks

How's the Nitron performing Camo?
Yes a bit of greasing wouldn't go astray.

That would be nice to have Pat.
So no other parts required unless I find worn bushings, that's good to know
Just need to pick a shock!
Cheers Alan

Hopefully you will find all the bushings in working order, otherwise you will need to swap to 86/87 linkage or have the bushings made since I think none of them is available from Yamaha anymore.
That would be nice to have Pat.
