Starts no problem on ether starts fine hot RUNNING FUEL LEVEL IS ABOUT LOCK WASHER UNDER SCREW ON BOWL HIGHT, supposed to be OK cold and not running fuel level 3/8 inch lower sound OK?
Balanced carbs and set mixture screws... engine BACKFIRES WHEN THROTTLE IS LET OFF? This is new. Carbs XS 750 CV Mikuni,s Thanks for any help
PS Proved on single cyl two strokes making fuel level too low will not start.
Allen Millyard - I saw him kick start his 5 cyl Kawi at Laguna Seca many years ago (it only took one kick :shok:). A Google search for him might help you find good info on 2 strokes and starting issues.
The fact that it won't start cold and backfires when the throttle is let off usually means it is running extremely lean.

Sounds like clogged choke circuit to me.
The FJ does the same thing when the choke fuel pickup in the float bowels are clogged
Two position lever choke on side of carb works fine once the engine starts. Anyone know the reason why the fuel level in the carburetors is much lower when motor is not running than when it is?
Thanks Chiz
