Does anyone know if the non shrouded Mikuni Brass Emulsion Tubes are still available, looking to replace mine
I can see the shrouded ones on RPM but not the Unshrouded

I don't see why one couldn't just buy a shrouded version, cut off its shroud, and clean up the cut area nice and smooth. Unless I'm missing something.

Yamaha has not produced the 1100 flat bottom slide emulsion tube for many, many years now.
I do have them in my
Carburetor Rebuild Kit 84-85 FJ1100 (http://www.rpmracingca.com/proddetail.asp?prod=Carb%3Arebuildkit1).

Yamaha has not produced the 1100 flat bottom slide emulsion tube for many, many years now.

That kit is Keyster brand and I've been
Reading about problems with tuning after Keyster kits are installed. Mid range flat spots, Some say the jet needles are shape differently and affect the tuning.
Some carb tuners say stick with the Mikuni bits as tolerances are much better.
I have noticed the pilot jets are different, whether that will make a difference, probably not but the jet needles I assume would.
If others can attest that they have no problems then No Worries.

Where have you been reading about these
problems? I would like to read those posts; please forward the website.
Here is my position on carb kits.
1) I will not sell low/poor/inferior quality parts; it is not worth jeopardizing my business/reputation.
2) I have sold more than 125 1100 kits through the RPM website and of those kits I have not heard of any issues*
3) We have rebuilt seven sets of 1100 carbs this year (2107) and used those kits in each set. All happy customers.
I use them, sell them, and recommend them without any concerns. 99.9% of all carbs I build are FJ/Mikuni Carbs; I know how to build and how to tune them.
I am interested in reading the
problems others are having and maybe be able to drill down to the actual problem instead of blaming it on the "kit".
FYI, the main jet needle is a duplicate to the Yamaha needle.

* We had a batch a couple of years ago with needles that were damaged from being crushed into the seat by the plastic cap. But that covered all three of the kits, not just the 1100. All of the damaged parts were warrantied without question.
