You guys are like family so I feel the need to share a PSA.
Nine years ago I survived the cancer that took the life of my good friend Randy Thompson this past year.
Two years ago, my PSA showed to be elevated from the normal. I contacted a urological clinic and we monitored it for the last year. It continued to degenerate and I had a prostate removal 2 weeks ago. Life will go on but my life will be changed forever. I am grateful for the incredible doctors that I've had care for me.
Prostate cancer is estimated to affect 1 in 6 males. Get a yearly check up.

Almost lost my dad to prostate cancer when he 68. Had the surgery and a bit of chemo and beat it. Lived to be 91, lost him a year ago this March. Be strong and live for the moment :drinks: Big R
This information is good to share here. Like our bikes many of us also are getting old(ish) and at risk for a multitude of life changing/ending possibilities. Getting checked every 6 months is no different than the maintenance we do to keep the bikes running well.

I lost my Father to prostrate cancer , He was too stubborn to get checked ..
I drove him to the hospital for surgery and he never came home.
so Yeah, everybody needs to get checked starting at 50 years old and earlier if it runs in the family.

Did they do the 'nerve sparing' surgery? Heal well.

Also don't forget to have a colonoscopy done. My family history is riddled with various cancers so I started early in my 40's. I have had 3 since then. Not a day at the park, but it's better than what could be. If they put you out for the procedure you won't feel a thing.
They now have a pill with a camera in it to do the job. It can augment or even replace the current procedure.

If you're 50+ , next time you see your doctor ask him about scheduling one for you. It's no different than checking your valve clearances. Many of us don't realize we take better care of our bikes than we do of ourselves.

Glad you were watching it and took care of it asap. I started to get the PSA check at last year's physical. And had my second colonoscopy last month. First one, seven years ago, was clean. This one they found a benign polyp.
This gettin' old crap sucks, but, as they say, its better than the alternative.

Really nice to hear from you. I do miss riding with you at the rallies.
Worst part so far is I won't be cleared to ride until sometime in June. So Boone is definitely out and I'm even going to miss my Spring trip to Arkansas this year. Which might not be so bad as there is massive flooding in the areas that we typically ride.
Not sure what my plans are for the Fall. I did enjoy abusing Hoffman's bike last year. It was pretty filthy when I picked it up but slowly over the week I managed to wipe it down and clean it up a little every day. Then I had to slog through 100 miles of heavy rain on the return trip to Atlanta. It was a mess by the time I got there. I'm sure that he didn't even notice. :-)
