Look and sound a lot better than the old scraped up OEM ones. Shed some decent weight too.

Yes Marty, they do have a nice growl to them (and they do polish up nicely)
I see you have the last version of the F1R which has the band clamp securing the muffler can...a much better design than the early version which had pop rivets.
Be careful on the left side with chain rub.
Enjoy the howl......

Pat:
I had no idea what brand the slip-ons they were until I researched them. Glad to hear that they're the later models too. I popped them apart, because I figured that they'd need repacking. However, they appear that you can't do that. Maybe I'm missing something about their design though. Their quality, seems top notch too. They do have a nice sound to them.
When mounting them, I did note an indentation in the drive side's can, but didn't pay it much thought. Must be for the chain's clearance. I'll do a quick check, and see if all is well. Never heard any noise though. Lucky.
Will be putting more miles on them.
Thanks.

Yes, you can repack them. After you separate the can from the connector, you have to push the inner tube out of the can. To do this I take a wood dowel and lightly tap against the inside of tube using the ridges for purchase.
Use a good quality packing blanket. The last stuff I put in was soft fiberglass packing made for dirt bikes. That stuff blew out after a couple hundred miles. Randy at RPM came up with some good stuff.
I have a bag of scrubble stainless steel I'm going to use on my next packing

This stuff is life time packing, never blows out.
Cheers. Pat
Pat:
Thanks for the directions for taking the cans apart. I'll do it when I have some time. I have some of the dirt bike silencer packing to go through, before I purchase the scribble stuff. Thanks for the link to it.
Glad to help....just so you know that dirt bike silencer fiberglass won't last long in those cans....
The FJ engine pumps out a lot of air in the 8k Kookaloo zone.

Yes, understood. I just want to use up something that has been laying around first. After what I've done with them already, and the procedure you describe for their disassembly, it shouldn't take too long after I need to repack with the scrubble stuff.
Interesting article on packing: http://www.supertrapp.com/images/pdfs/Muffler-Packing-FAQ.pdf (http://www.supertrapp.com/images/pdfs/Muffler-Packing-FAQ.pdf)
Anyone knows where could find a pair of F1s?
Pat, you should not have to repack for many, many years to come.
The stainless steel mat and packing in the kit I use keeps the fiberglass from getting quickly burned out. I researched and talked to a bunch of people about muffler packing several years ago. The packing kit I offer was the one recommended for use more than any other.
Here is the packing kit I use and supply: High Performance Muffler Packing Kit (http://www.rpmracingca.com/proddetail.asp?prod=M%2FC%3AMufflerPacking)

I really liked the sound of the F1s that came on my '89 so I am holding on to them for now. Pat has already claimed Dibs if I chose to sell them. Not pristine but in good condition and ready for an eye blinding polish that Pat could put on them.
Thanks Randy, good to know.....yea, those F1R's really sound good with your packing.
Thanks again for doing that....
See? That's attention to detail you get at RPM when you have them service your bike.
Randy calls Pat, "Ok, your bike is ready to pick up...Oh yea, by the way, your mufflers are blown out and sound like shit.....and there is NO WAY your bike is leaving MY SHOP sounding like that....."
Priceless.
