Title: Wheel and brake disc cleaning and reconditioning
Post by: Mattman on April 03, 2017, 10:11:17 PM
Hi you all,
I was getting ready to finish my detailing with pulling the front wheel as well as inspecting the bearings. What do you suggest for getting this wheel and disc clean as far as how to get the light rust and age off ? I was going to use simple green and a light brush but I was hoping to make it look as NEW as possible.

Matt

A green Scotchbrite pad should clean that right up.
You can cut the pad into strips to get into the crannies on the rotor carrier.

I get great results on that sort of crud/light rust with Solvol Autosol, It's metal polish, in a tube like toothpaste.
I think every bike shop on the planet has it, or something close.
  Cheers

Also Matt, the oem rotor carrier is steel (I just checked with a magnet) so if you have some rust oxidation, some Naval Jelly will remove that...

See you in a couple of weeks...

Cheers!
