any opinions on bg44k ? i can get it for pretty cheap i run it in my cars but i don't have much experience with the fj so i was thinking for running a can from time to time.... should i ?
I doubt it will hurt the engine. It might make you feel better or think you are getting more power. But I don't see where the magic happens in the MSDS BG44K_MSDS (//http://). Just petroleum distillates and mineral spirits (also a petroleum distillate).
Are you trying to fix something? "Stuff in a can" is usually not going to fix a problem, IMHO. Are you trying to keep the insides of your FJ clean? Frequent oil changes are the best plan, along with a top notch oil & filter (AmsOil (http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=80.msg495#msg495) , for instance). I'd be REALLY careful of additives with a wet clutch. Our old FJ's are getting to the point where it doesn't take much help to make a clutch slip, (unless you've addressed that issue). This little bit of "petroleum distillates and mineral spirits (also a petroleum distillate)" might just be the banana peel under the FJ.
Here is a review that favors the stuff. https://www.helpful.reviews/en/product/1/bg44k-fuel-system-cleaner-review (https://www.helpful.reviews/en/product/1/bg44k-fuel-system-cleaner-review)
