Hi Everybody.
I'm new here but owned an '86 FJ1200 many years ago when I lived in NZ. Awesome country to tour around and an awesome bike to do it on.
This site has an absolute wealth of info. and it's piqued my interest in getting back into spanner work....namely a project around rebuilding and modifying an old FJ1200.
I've done some searching on the site but can't seem to locate the actual dimensions of the FJ1100/1200 swingarm. Specifically I'm wanting to know the swingarm width across the pivot. Can anyone tell me? Thanks
Dont quote me on this but I think they are around 285mm inside. I am going from memory and sometimes it does fail me. It is called Crafts Disease , Cant remember a freakin thing. Big R
have a look in the links section and you should be able to find a service manual pdf....might be in that?
I have whittled a 92 R1 swingarm down to fit. But I can't remember what day it is. If I haven't packed it away I have a swingarm. I'll see if I can find it when I get home. But hopefully someone will come up with the measurements before that
I used 9.372" (238.05mm) finished (cup to cup) on the YZF1000 T-Ace swing arm mod. Which fits perfect.
Marc Rittner discusses it here: http://www.fjmods.co.uk/MarcRittner.htm (http://www.fjmods.co.uk/MarcRittner.htm)
I'll measure the oem swinger next week when I take it off the '92 I'm working on...
I just went out to the shop and measured my 1993 swing arm. It is 9.937" across the thrust covers with the swing arm bushing installed.
Thanks Joe, I read that wrong, 9.697" is the FJ width......the above 9.372 number was the cut size of the TAce swinger allowing for the added width of the 2 thrust bearings.
I'll still double check next week
Thanks to all of you for the help.
Pat, if you can verify Joe's measurements it would be much appreciated.
Andrew
For further clarification, the width of the swing arm pivot tube is 9.660" and the width of the swing arm bushing is 9.691".
Will do, as soon as the swing arm arrives...
Joe/Pat,
It's a related question....do you know the swingarm pivot shaft diameter? Thanks
Not off hand.
I'll be happy to measure that when I'm doing the swing arm swap.....as soon as the arm arrives.
Do you need it right away?
No I'm not in a hurry Pat. Thanks for your help.
The swingarm pivot shaft is 0.628" or 16 mm.
Joe
