Boone is only 3 months away! What say everybody, who's going to make the trek this year?
Nancy and I will be coming early but may have to leave on Friday...still up in the air 'bout that but after missing Boone last year I've been put on notice. :flag_of_truce:

If you guys are attending the rally please let me know if you would like a shirt and what size.
I will be sending them all to Dean to sell at the ECSR. I want to make sure I have everyone covered. I will also be sending a few extra.
Here is the link to see the details of the 2017 FJ Rally shirt: http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=16513.msg167402#msg167402 (http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=16513.msg167402#msg167402)
I want to be able to send the box off to Dean in early April.
NOTE: If you are attending any of the other FJ rallies and would like a shirt, you will have someone at those events who will be selling them. I will probably be putting out a similar post in each of the rally topics as they approach.

I got a buddy coming with me this year and we're considering riding DS bikes - DR/XRL 650's. Is there any offroad on tap besides the "Brown Mtn Beat Down" - home of the vertical rock garden.

Dan,
Yes there is. last year we rode some singletrack that was doable even on my Tiger 800, Dan B. rode my XR650L on it as well. there was also a couple other Dirt days that we rode some FS roads that were fun. Smola and Frankie rode a Jeep trail that sounded like a good day I want to ride this year. So definitely bring the Doctor 650 and your buddy on the XR. Brown Mountain can be fun if we avoid the Vertical wall of Death.
See Ya soon!

It was hot last time.. We sweated like crazy but made it up fairly drama free. well no major drama, but I do still have ding in my muffler from that day. And Scott sprained his finger. Also DanB's carb kept falling out of his DRZ. good times! :drinks:
If I go back there on the 650 it'll just be up and down the big center trail, no rock wall of death.

Iron mountain trail starts right in Damascus was pretty nice last year.. and there is lots more DS riding we just havent explored yet. (but we will)
Once again life gets in the way of fun. The kids are growing fast and they will be gone before we know it. So I figure I better enjoy it while I can. I will return to Boone!!!! Someday.....

What's the deal with firewood for Boone? Nancy K isn't going to Boone. I have the phone number for "Mr. Eddie" for slab wood if that's what everyone wants. If I remember it was $300 for a load. Let me know if everyone wants to do this and I'll get it going. Shouldn't be more than $15 a head....

i think the wood situation worked out ok last year but it was a little warmer and rained that one night we didnt even have a fire at all. We pretty much had everything burned up by Saturday night.
I vote two bundles.... we can make smaller fires (did i just say that ?) until we get towards the weekend if we have to.... I'll have the dragon there Tues. night. :good2:
On the other hand If we get three bundles we can make as large a fire as we want every night.... and not have to get an extra delivery.
I guess we need to ask how big the bundles are .... if they keep shrinking in size we may be forced in getting three.
long range forecast= highs in the low 70s and lows in the 40s with a slight chance of rain on thursday so typical Boone weather .... three seasons in one day... Summer Winter and Monsoon!!!!!

You'll be there tomorrow night with cocktails, and a fire.
Norbert feels bad bringing a trailer? I trailered to the 2016 East Coast rallies, and I live in a state that borders North Carolina.
I missed the good weather and good riding, but I'll be there Saturday. My stepson graduates Friday night. Andrew and I will be up Saturday, possibly with a friend from Charlotte who rides an old Moto Guzzi. (There sure are a lot of FJ's at Rockoff's Italian V-twin Rally.) We are trailering at least one bike, so that Andrew can bring Goose. (Maybe Andrew needs a bike with a sidecar.)
Can't wait, like usual.

I'm bummed you won't be there!
His step-brother graduates from high school tonight, Andrew graduated from college in December and started work in January. He had his choice of locations nation-wide, he picked Rome Georgia because it's close to the good motorcycle roads of the Fall Rally.
He just picked up an FZ1 to ride while he finishes sorting out the 916, I'm not sure if he's even filled the tank yet. I'm bringing the FJ because the 998 has the same fuel-line problem now that it had when Dave brought it to Tellico a couple years ago. We will be coming up with my college friend Bruce, who has an old Moto Guzzi. But no Stu this time, and no Paul this time, and no Rockoff Ducatis this time. Maybe in Tellico. ("There sure are a lot of FJs at Bill's Italian twin rally.")
Boone 2017 had the best weather yet, rode every day Tuesday thru Saturday with only a spritz of the wet stuff, not enough to even call rain. Sunday was a bit of a wash out but most folks had left by then.
No other info on the rally? Or pics? Remember, I'm living vicariously through y'all!

Hey Chris. I have 15 yrs worth of pictures that all look about the same.. So I sort of quit taking them. There are several on facebook, Henry, Dean etc. posted, but I don't recall ever seeing you on there now that I think of it. I'm afraid you're going to have to come back down here and take your own. :good2:
This is the only picture I took:
(http://i1060.photobucket.com/albums/t453/ddlewis/ecsr17_zpsnry5cfzm.jpg) (http://s1060.photobucket.com/user/ddlewis/media/ecsr17_zpsnry5cfzm.jpg.html)So
Dan, yeah I was think much of the same. Been there, done that with the pics. My wife just force upon me a facebook account of my own. I'll have to try and find y'all. The "fj rally search" link someone posted came back empty. I do need to get my butt back down to Boone. Almost 123K miles on the FJR, may need a good lookin' over before I do, though.
Oh, so you decided to keep the fire small this year?
