Avon is making a matching set of tires for my 1990 FJ. Has anyone rode with these yet. Thanks Mickey

Not yet, but I have a set waiting to be mounted. I do have a 3 1/2" wide FZR front rim also going on.
2 years ago I did try the 3D Avon 150/80-16 tire on a '93 and I was mighty impressed.
Now I have a new 120/70-17 3D front tire to match a new 150/80 back.
I'm looking forward to see how they work.
Well I went and ordered a set since its tore down for all of RPM's mods. Thanks Randy for the parts and fast shipping

Does anyone know if they'll be making a 3D X-M 16" front tyre?
I looked on their web site and they only make the 17.

We are lucky they make the 150/80-16" size.
The writing is on the wall for 16" tires.
Yes We are Pat.
If only there was an easy solution to upgrade front and rear so both rims look the Same.
The front looks to be easy just have to find the rim, the rear looks a bit more troublesome
Not an issue Sparky...From what I've seen, the curved 3 spoke GSXR back rim matches the Yamaha curved 3 spoke rims. Like the '88+FJ's and '87'88 FZR1000/750 rims.
Obviously not the early '84-87 FJ rims....those are unique....and heavy....and narrow....and....

Thanks for the info. Just bought the same set from Motorcycle Superstore.

Like Pat mentioned. The 1990-1992 GSXR750 rear wheels have angled spokes and look very similar to the OEM FJ wheels.

I can find a FZR rear rim but I cannot find the front rim,
will the GSXR rim fit the front?
Not sure how I missed this but I put a set of those tires on my 89 last summer. Bear in mind, this is the first set of new tires I have ever fitted to a street bike- but I had quite the summer: rode from Minnesota to Arizona and back and then some. Overall, more than 10k miles. The front is almost down to the wear bars but has worn well and evenly, especially considering the amount of interstate I had to cover. The rear probably still has another 1k miles on it before the wear bars. I'll take some photos tonight. Of those 10+k miles, over 7k were with camping gear loaded on the bike.
Traction and wear have been great. Don't have much to compare the tires to but I did ride all types of roads in all conditions - asphalt, gravel, hail, lots of rain and temps ranging from 20 degrees F to 100+ degrees F.
If anyone else has fitted these tires, I too would love to hear your thoughts to compare to my own experience.
The only close calls were when I found a patch of gravel kicked up from cars cutting a corner and the other one was a few weeks ago, temps in low 20s with what must have been a frozen mist on the road and within 1/4 mile of my house (cold tires). I didn't loose all traction, but did have to put a foot down in the corner. Good thing I was already going slow :shok: Can't really blame either one on the tires.
The previous set were totally squared off. I don't remember what they were but these are no where near as bad. Might have been all the rally ring that helped too...
