The LED headlight makes a whole lot of a difference.
I haven't really decided on what color the bike should be. I'll probably get decided once i source out a new fuel tank.
ps. pardon me for the background. I haven't mowed my lawn :sarcastic:
With the cross brace cut off....How did you tie each half of the perimeter frame rails together?
I haven't done any modifications to the cross brace yet. All I did was cut. I'm still searching online for reference on the frame modification to give it a cleaner look.
Be careful until you do. You have the potential for a unstable condition.
I would not ride it until then.
I doubt you will find the answer online. You need to consult an expert in frame design.
I do like the rear end of this project, looks stock, nicely done. However please please please brace up the the front of the frame, it might feel OK but the extra stress will start to crack parts of the frame (check head-stock) or even engine casings. Overall nice looking bike, especially the back end from side view. Russ

HA HA!!! I know, right?
OP: Please don't go randomly hacking off parts of the frame without consulting a qualified engineer, and I would definitely not take that bike on the road and put other people's lives at risk before that frame is corrected.

I am of the older generation and hate to see classic bikes in anything other than original configuration. But in this case I really like the looks of this bike. It took a lot of work and is tastefully done. Great job.
Dave
Thanks Dave. I wanted to give it a unique but decent look(in my opinion) . Kinda like a muscle bike.
I see it was last January when you first posted your mods, so did you get your frame fixed?
I'm curious to see what you did and how it turned out.
I suppose the easiest cheapest fix just get hold of another frame and keep that really good looking back end. Some mods just look c@@p but the does look factory........... ever thought of cutting the back out of the headlight pod to go over and hide the front part of the frame???? just a thought. Russ
Nice job. I have a similar project and will post some pics soon.
I have been looking for a screen/fairing similar to yours - where did you source yours ?
I also swapped to EFI ( Spitronics ), changed wheels for 17", shortened frame and am looking for more height in a tandem seat that can carry a passenger, as I am tall ( 6'5"), so installed firmed fork springs. I want more ground clearance than the 4into1 offers, so will fit a 4into2 that is shallower.
Also will fit a lithium battery ( smaller size) . Also many other mods, and some panels will be needed to hide the ugly bits of the external frame.
Hoping to have intake assembly done this week then start final assembly and finishing and will post some updated pics then.
Cheers, enjoy & ride safe !

This one seems to just fit to hide cross brace, do not cut it off, do not cripple your FJ :ireful:

Too late. The deed is done. Now watch as his crippled FJ returns the favor.
fjman can't say that he wasn't warned. At least there won't be a passenger involved.
Pat, this was for IanDavidWilliams. I do not know how far he is with his project.
Anyway if you try to search for "FJ1100/FJ1200 naked" images, many of them are crippled this way.
IMHO small fairing can hide cross brace and headlight can be mounted on frame as before.
I prefer bigger fairing, best I have ever seen, was FJ600 fairing fitted to 1200.
Old Exup/ZXR twin headlight looks good for me and have air intakes for cooling inner cylinders.
If you want to have coffee racer, old fashioned fairing looks good on FJ too.

Screwed job, but just imagine one round headlight in the center, matched line of fairing with lower tank edge, one seater with OEM tail, bar end mirrors and perfect custom look for me without cutting cross brace.
To have completely naked bike, FJ is not a good starting point :negative:
Oh ok...Gotcha Stepan, good advice.
If you want a naked look, get a back bone style frame from an XJR.
Really love the look of this bike! Great work!!
I was wondering how you were able to fabricate a single seat. I would modify my own FJ and shorten the subframe to make it a single seater as well. Would appreciate any guidance.
