From the list on here I was starting to wonder, but that's more like it. I felt short changed at the last rally living relatively (450km) nearby. This trip I have mapped out a 2400km route over the best roads I can find, should be great fun. Looking forward to catching up with last years attendees and meeting many more members for the first time.
In keeping with tradition, I will start preparing my bike the night before, set out with a few hours sleep and many untried changes.
Noel
Unfortunately I have had to pull out this year as I will be in South Australia with work committments.
I have a reservation at the Motel in Esk for the Friday night 10th March. If anyone wants to take it over please give me a shout and we can get it sorted with the motel management.
Richard..... I will get the trophy to you some time after the 25th of this month.... let me know an appropriate time please mate.
Cheers

Well that's a Darn Shame !
We were looking forward to catching up with you guys...
Isn't there something in the rule book that the current title holder has to be present at the proceeding rally to do the handover . ( will check with the committee)
Well I just took a look at my roster again and it looks like my SA trip has been cancelled......so I'm back in again....HOORAY!

Unfortunately I can not make the rally this year (will be over seas at the time) so wish everyone the best and safe travels
I am sure the QLD boys will sort and awesome ride for everyone - as its a special part of the country in its own way. :good2:
make sure lots of photos are taken and posted following the event for those of us who can not attend
Rob
Ahh bugger Rob, you can be sure there will be lots of pics
Hi All ....""BUGGER"".. After booking my accommodation , getting my own FJ "ESK" Tee Shirt printed up and then fitting some HWY Pegs onto my FJ .. I can not attend this years FJ Rally at ESK ,due to getting Blood Clots in both Lungs on a flight back from Hawaii 2 weeks ago on the 4th feb. Spent 2 days in Hospital ,The Doc says I am to do nothing for at least a month and that includes riding the FJ, I tried real hard to twist his arm ,but because of the Blood thinners I am on ,Just getting bruised could be a problem,, Any way I am sure you will all have a great time
,,,, Ride Safe ,,,,
PS I have attached a few Photos of the HWY Foot Pegs that I fitted ,,
I was looking to fit some thing that would ,
1 --- protect the Engine covers ,
2 --- Fit extra spot lights on
3 --- HWY Pegs ,to change Leg position on long Rides
These are XJR1300 99-01 Rear Exhaust Hangers,They work a treat as HWY Pegs .They flick in and out as needed and look Factory .
I have done all the FJ Mods ,,F and B Wheels ,Brakes and Lines ,etc etc but love have these Pegs fitted ,
have a great time all , and all going well see you at the 2018 Aussie Rally ,
regards Phil from Sussex AU
That's not good news Phil, I hope you had a really Great time in Hawaii mate.
How are you feeling now? Are the clots all cleared? and blood thinners are just precautionary?
You just have to take it easy for awhile.
Your bike looks good, plenty of mods on there.
I know what you mean about the thinners and bruising, they appear out of nowhere and usually big squishy ones like there is a pool of blood underneath, not a good feeling. I've been on 2 since last August and No riding. Hoping to get off 1 soon and back in the saddle.
At least I don't have to worry about Mozzie bites, as soon as they stick gob in me they get blown straight off.
I've been to get CT scan once on my scone after giving it a good whack and a bit of claret flowing.
Maybe we'll have to organise a ride before the 2018 ràlly just to test the Pegs out
Cheers Alan
Bugger mate. Hope you heal up fast and get back on the bike soon.
Hi Alan ,,Yes had a great 8 days in Hawaii . Really nice people everywhere we went . Pearl Harbour was well set up and a very nice place to pay ones respects to the great USA .
I was a bit trapped in the middle seat on the 9.5 hour return flight ,so I did not get to go for a walk to keep the Blood flowing ,Its the old (I will be right syndrome).
Landed back on 4th ,felt RS but not real bad until 13th went to Doc because of spinning out a bit, then next day I was in big pain in R Side of chest ,I finally gave in on the 15th and went to Hospital at 4 am .Stayed in for 2 days ,,I had every test possible and they found that I had Bad Blood clots on both Lungs ,The Right side was a bit worse that left,
The Clots will be in my Lungs for around 3 to 6 months the Doc says,,,Treatment is these new Blood thinning tabs, 2 tab's a day ,,plus lots of pain killers,
Doctor gave me a month off from the 15th Feb to 15 march ,Told me I was to do nothing ,,After that I would have more tests and I could be off work for another month depending on the test results,
The main problem is being on the Blood thinning Tab's is the worry for me..,if I was to cut or bang myself around ,I could be in big trouble with internal Bleeding etc,,
The Doc said I would be on the Blood thinners for the rest of my life, But I will be fighting him over that call ,I was 100 fine before the flight,
So once clots are sorted ,I will ask him about stopping the Thinning Tab's.
At the moment I am feeling pretty good really, Just get short on breath if I try anything other than walking .But most of the pain has settled down,, "Touch Wood"
I am 58 and work 4 myself "Lic Carpenter" ,So I need to be back to 100% before getting back on the Job or I will be asking 4 trouble.
Yes I will be in anytime for a Ride or a chat this year once I get over this . I see that ""Jools"" is having a FJ shed day in a few months time , I will see if I can make that if possible ,
Next time I am around your way on my Bike ,I am more than happy to call in and or we could arrange a short ride or to met for lunch around the Gong area some time,, I am easy .
Thanks for your contact ,cheers Phil

That sounds Good Phil,
Good to see the Pain has settled down,
You take it easy now, I know its hard too but it'll fly by.
Yeh, Xarelto Blood Thinners aren't the best, I'm always having to fix a nick up that won't stop bleeding and Drs say NO getting up ladders just in case you fall, Mate half my life is up a ladder being a Sparky, I've got the dents in the shins from the rungs most days.(don't tell my Missus) and I'm always hanging out for the Missus to go up shopping for awhile so I can do something around the house like get on the roof and clean gutters etc
After my last heart procedure I could get comfortable to sit sleep or anything for 3 days due to chest pain, so on pain killers to settle it down every 4 hours, seemed an eternity but thats over now (cannot wait for the next round)
It would be good for a chat and to get some first hand tips on F&R wheel conversions from a Pro
and WHERE do you find all those Rims. :dash2:
Weathers cooling down a bit which is good for riding, hopefully it'll be soon.
Cheers Alan
Strewth Phil!
I've been off the forum a bit lately with non-FJ life & am glad to hear you're on the mend.
PM your number & I'll give you a call, perhaps I can pop down for a cuppa to shake out Yummy before the rally?
Troyskie
OK thanks Troy ,Cuppa Sounds good ,will send PM ,,cheers Phil

If she Deb wish to ride, my partner, Crissi, will be around to keep her company. Crissi won't go on the bike.
Mark
Alena is going to keep Chrissy company as well and I suggested they can drive around and visit Spring Bluff, Picnic Point etc, and then still meet us for lunch. So that should work out well.
Heres an update I just posted re the route ---
Scenic Route for Saturday Rally Ride
Here we go team, after a few alterations, rewrites, thumping of foreheads etc, here is the 1st stage of the ride leaving the Esk Hotel after the lineup at 9.00am. This is a great run taking in the flowing highspeed (tsk tsk) back run of the Wivenhoe Dam, back to Esk, heading up the very nice Esk-Hampton Road, then Hanging a right turn to go around Perseverence Dam. From there we take the back country roads, one stage is single lane but should be fine to come into Meringadan in time (hopefully) for 12.30 lunch. After that, we can still take in a couple of sites like Picnic Point, Murphys Creek Road etc to head back to Esk, the afternoon run back really is open at the moment. See everyone there ,
