Title: Hmmm
Post by: racerrad8 on January 09, 2017, 06:46:37 PM
As one motorcycle company calls it quits...Victory No More (http://www.autoevolution.com/news/polaris-stops-victory-motorcycles-production-114457.html)

another keeps on thinking ahead: Honda Riding Assist (https://youtu.be/VH60-R8MOKo)

Here is another view: Honda's self balancing motorcycle shown at CES 2017 (https://youtu.be/8uM5w4VeWL0)

My brother sent me this link from Industrial Equipment News (http://www.ien.com/video/video/20848555/victory-becomes-a-lost-cause-for-polaris-indian-could-rise) which gives a bit of explanation to "market pressures" that led to this.

They say they will maintain the Slingshot side-by-side to catch on fire (http://www.autoevolution.com/news/burning-slingshot-owner-sheds-light-on-the-incident-110808.html) - er- I mean still be in production.  There was a large recall initiated by Transport Canada (http://www.autoevolution.com/news/polaris-slingshot-recalled-for-three-issues-in-canada-112593.html) late last year.

I just hope this doesn't interfere with the return of the Indian Scout FTR 750 Flat Tracker (http://www.cycleworld.com/indian-motorcycles-2017-indian-wrecking-crew-flat-track-race-team) to the AMA Pro circuit.  I was hoping to see it if I can get off to Rolling Wheels Raceway (http://www.rollingwheelsracewaypark.com/world-record-video/) in upstate New York just outside of Syracuse this summer.  It's about 5-6hrs from my place.

A self balancing motorcycle?  I'll bet it falls over when you turn off the power.  An answer to a question no one's asking?

How does it know when you want to lean over for a turn?  I wonder if it tries to stand back up?

Why are they wasting time and money on this crap when they STILL don't have a sportbike with electronics?

A speed sensor will tell the bike's computer when to self right and when to allow a lean into a corner. But I agree with having too much tech on a bike. Is it still a bike if it can drive with out a rider? When Pat gets too old ride he can send his bike for a round trip and then watch the video of how much fun he would have had. The BMW clip said the rider won't need protective gear, really? My first auto vs. bike collision was not a bike or rider error. I guess when V2V and V2I are fully implemented all crashes will be limited to the errors of the system in control.

Did you notice that it actually worked? Many companies these days have press conferences revealing their new blazigmo running into a wall. Although many won't see the significance of this , one day the technology will have an application that counts.
