I am looking for an original equipment windscreen in excellent/very good condition. I am not interested in an aftermarket as I am wishing to stay "all original". Does anyone have one hanging around?
Please PM with cost and information.
Thanks!!
Dean

That's a pretty tall order, but take heart. An original screen, such as the one shown in the link below can be brought back to as new condition with a few basic workshop tools and little (lot) of patience.
I say this from first hand experience with many dozens of screens.
If interested in how to go about it, PM me, the odds of finding one in pristine condition I would think were very slim.

I couldn't even see through this when I got it.

Dean, just out interest, why are you so keen to keep it standard to the point of getting rid of mods already fitted like calipers, exhuast, air filters etc.

Hi there, Noel!
I certainly do not object to upgrades and often I am incredibly impressed at many of the members and what they are doing to their bikes. My bikes are very "mildly" modified. My '93 for example has stainless brake lines, R1 calipers, RPM fork brace and oil filter mod, handlebar risers, Renntec engine bars, and corbin seat. Physically, the appearance of all my bikes have not changed much. I simply love the look of the FJ the way they came. I am certainly not an aggressive rider and the way they were built in 1986 or 1993 simply suits my riding style. It is probably still over engineered when compared to my riding ability. I also own 2 CT70's that are totally original in spec as they were in 1972 and 1974. Any modifications to these bikes, I feel, ruin the appearance and ultimately have a negative impact upon their collectibility.
My '86 came to me basically in pieces. I am gathering things that I need. When given the choice of tracking down originals or aftermarket/modifications, in most cases originality wins out. That's just me.
Noel, I am VERY impressed as to how you polished your windscreen!! I would love to know your tricks..
Thanks,
Dean
