Law enforcement as revenue raising for the State?
Looks like its creeping into the land of the free too (http://www.businessinsider.com/virginia-hands-out-6996-traffic-tickets-in-one-weekend-in-an-effort-to-raise-revenue-for-the-state-government-2010-3).
Only 6996 in a weekend? Well Klavdy, the constabulary here now have a couple of those special cameras that ID your number plate, check it through a database for stolen, unregistered, non-WOF vehicles and then the cops pull you over all in a few moments. According to one of my contacts on the inside who was involved in the trial, the first day they turned it on in South Auckland they had to turn it off again within a few minutes because they couldn't keep up with the number of hits it made!!!
I believe "da fuzz" in the US and Oz already have them.
Ned - I used to live in the bloody and lawless state of Otara.

Ned the news has just informed us that those dectective cams are here in Virginia and in use. It seems that every day the state is trying to come up with new ways to increase revenue since so many here are unemployed and so many companies have downsized. The state also counts on millions of dollars each year from tourist that come to Va. with the economy is such bad shape they are exploring news ways to cash in on the population that live here.

The ole State of California has no shortage of CHP jobs, it's run like a true free enterprise business! It's like an aggressive Company deciding rather than cut back on expenses and sales staff, they hire more salesman. Yes, CHP officers. And boy do they sell, all kinds of revenue. But all you get in return from your bill to the State are more fines and Insurance hikes..... No, I'm not cynical.
Dirty $%#@*^&^ crooks they are
Craig, watch out on salmon falls rd. The chp has it staked out with cars and the plane. I heard they handed out 80 reckless tickets to mc riders over the weekend.
Keep those peepers peeled for plod.
They are ruining our fun. Better get my CHP neighbor to chase us with his lights on, during hi day off of course. He was the one who suggested, but not sure if he will go through with it. Ha, let's see, this will be a 4 hour chase I suppose?

Garth, its so funny that Virginia is planning on raising the speed limit to 70 mph on interstates. In Va. any speed over 80 mph is considered reckless driving... So think of the money they will generate for just (riding) driving 10 over the speed limit... Mo Money, its almost like they planned it that way... go figure....fkrs

When I read this I wish I would be back in germany. No speed limit on most of the "Autobahn" That's what I miss
