Title: 160/80 -16 Versus 150?
Post by: mr blackstock on November 27, 2016, 03:23:38 AM
G'day,
I did a little research before asking this question, but I might be able to buy a Metzler 160/80-16 to perhaps replace my 150/80-16.  I imagine this has been done, and I wanted to find out if the wider tread will foul against the swingarm.

All the posts i can find detail changing over to the 17 inch rims, no posts about a small amount of extra width on the standard 16 inch rim.  I realise you can't go crazy with extra width, but I think the difference would only be around half an inch?

Any thoughts?

cheers, Gareth

Sorry everyone,

I did a search on the tread size and got lots of posts, and the verdict seems that while less than perfect, the 160 will fit o.k on a rim made for a 150 tread.  Sorry for the wasted thread, it's just my Shinko is wearing faster than I expected.

cheers, Gareth

So......The owner with the abused 1100 did get back with you  :sarcastic: http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=16357.msg165208#msg165208 (http://www.fjowners.com/index.php?topic=16357.msg165208#msg165208)

I didn't see a mention of the 160/80/16 tire versus stock 150/80/16 as a selling point. Good eye on the tire....
