Hi
I'd like to buy my FJ new chain and sprockets, and i am wondering which type to buy?
I have been looking at DID x-ring chains, and want a top quality kit.
But i have no experience with this, and want to hear your recommendations.
:)
Get the strongest chain you can find in a 530 size in O or X ring. Chains are rated in Tensile strength, the higher the number, the stronger the chain. A broken chain often results in a broken case.
2 of the best:
EK ZZZ chain http://www.ekchain.jp/product/ (http://www.ekchain.jp/product/)
DID ZVM-X chain http://www.didchain.com/chainSpecs.html (http://www.didchain.com/chainSpecs.html)
Look for 2 things: 1) Tensile strength and 2) Wear resistance.
DID has a slightly lower tensile strength (10,400 vs 11,000), but a much higher wear resistance (4.0 vs 1.7)
I run the did zvm-x on the 1350. And very seldom have had to adjust it. Plus I'm not good about chain maintenance. Been on for along time. I have a problem not doing wheelies out of the roundy rounds.
It's holding up great.

I run that chain on my busa with 189 RWHP and my FJ1314 with over 160RWHP.....great chain like has been said.
:good2:You are good to go with the DID ZVM=X :good2:
Okay, that sucked. That last post did not come through as planned. Let's try that again... :good2: Go with the DID ZMX-X! It is a great chain with excellent wear and super tensile strength. Do not go the cheap route when replacing the chain on the FJ! :good2:
A good kit will cost you around 150-200$ I think. With DID you can travel at least 40-50k as I heard. With proper maintenance. Mine is on for 4k now, I think I never adjusted it since mounting. I bought factory riveted endless chain to force myself in dismantling the swingarm to grease it. :rofl2: Keep it a bit on the loose side. I ride mine with 3-4 centimeters free travel.
You need 110 link, 530 pitch chain if having original setup. Sprockets are 17/41 for Europe (I think, don't hold me for it).
Kits usually come with JT (I have them) or Sunstar sprockets. Both are good.
